2010-2011 DIII commitment thread

Re: 2010-2011 DIII commitment thread

Please keep in mind that until my post the other day, no BERNHEIM submitted anything. That was my point. WE never made the commitment public in the first place.

To GOTICE - Thanks for your kind words. Both my parents are/were Army veterans of WWII, I am an Army Ranger vet and Rose's mother has just returned to active duty with her third branch of service (Air Force), my other daughter and her husband are both in the Army presently and posted to Iraq. I think Rose realized sooner or later that she would get sucked into the "family business.":D Of course, I am proud of her choice and respect her all the more for her decision. Wish you and your family well.

To Uconn Fan & NU Prof - Thanks for your kind words. I will share them with Rose. She is looking forward to her journey. NU will offer her some great challenges and some great opportunities. Hopefully, she will put in the time to be in a position to maximize them.

Glad to see that the hockey team will have another Cadet on the roster. It is good to see that she wants to take on the challenge of the military lifestyle at NU as well as varsity athletics.

bluvs2foot,

I never accused the BERNHEIM family of submitting the commitment. I only stated that the board only post the names and commitments that they receive. They don't go looking for them.

Good luck with all future endeavors. Some much greater than hockey.

Iron Ranger - we may have to agree to disagree with the first part of your statement above. If you scroll back in this thread, you will find many proverbial stones being turned over as people searched high and low for committed players and where they were going to play hockey.

Thanks so much for your last comment. We do agree there. Truth be told, I am happy with the outcome, as a parent, because for Rose her choice is about far more than just hockey.

Re: 2010-2011 DIII commitment thread

Thanks very much for your kind remarks. ~ B

You are most certainly welcome.

BTW, if you are not familiar with User CP on this forum, you should check it. You can do so by clicking the line "User CP" on the blue task bar near the top of the page. It takes you to a page where you can see what others have privately (you can see their identity if you pay for services here) commented on your posts (by clicking on the scales in each post). They can be either positive (leading to postive points and a green set of boxes under your name) or negative (subtracting points leading to red boxes under your name). Most people here use it to leave private messages for others and sign their name to it. However, you have to comment on several other users posts before you can leave another CP for the same member.

It can be quite confusing at first, but it can be useful if you wish to become more integrated into the regular community here. I understand that your first experience here was a bit negative, but you'll find that there are plenty of good people here as well.

Best wishes and welcome to the board, should you choose to stick around.

Re: 2010-2011 DIII commitment thread

The roster is to big even for a men's team.

I don't get this comment?

Why is too big even for a men's team? mens and women's college hockey rosters have different numbers for the acceptable amount of players on it?

Re: 2010-2011 DIII commitment thread

...and most members of this forum are aware that DIII is a different animal and the only time that you can really say that a player is "committed" is in November when you see them on a roster. At that point, they are "committed" at least until January when they can transfer for the spring semester.

We also understand that there are a lot of factors that go into selecting a college and that things change (stuff happens) during the year.

All this leads to heart ache for the poor souls trying to track where people are going but really doesn't reflect negatively on the player.

As I posted on the Men's DIII commitment thread. It would really help if people would post the information without the trash talk/sniping. For Norwich to get a recruit who initially was headed for Middlebury does say a lot about how fast the NU program has grown.

Can somebody out there in cyberspace please explain to me how this particular post of mine can be referred to as "trash talk/sniping?"

This post:
1) Is factually correct.
2) Defends a players right to change their minds and transfer to the school that best meets their needs.

Maybe there is a different interpretation?

I don't believe NUProf was implying your post was trash talking/sniping but an overall statement that people should just post the information and leave the rest at the door. That is how I read it...I guess we will have to wait for NUProf to answer...

At the time of the post we were talking about players getting to experience school and athletics. My comment directed at the 28 player roster was implying that not all of them will get the full experience to do both because 1/4 of the team will be in the stands.
I checked out college hockey stats for women's roster sizes and they will have the largest roster in women's college hockey (D1 or D3).

After I posted, I went and looked up men's rosters because of my comment. I guess I should've looked first because it seems most men's teams are around 27-30 players. I'm used to the RIT men's roster which is usually 25-26. I thought men's teams would be in that range. I was wrong.
Personally I think any roster over 25 is to big but it certainly makes more sense for a men's to have a large roster because of their physical play.

I don't think having 6-8 players sitting out every game is a good thing, especially for a first year program, men or women.

This was not directed at you, and if you thought it was, I apologize. I was irritated at a number of posts preceding yours that took gratuitous shots at the Norwich program, parents of Norwich players, and players who have (apparently) chosen to attend Norwich.

Re: 2010-2011 DIII commitment thread

Anyone hearing anything about possible Plattsburgh recruits? This is probably the first year I've barely heard a peep. I keep hearing we've got good players coming but nothing to back it up.

i have heard of chelsea vanglahn (mistake me if i'm wrong on the spelling) is going to Plattsburgh, from Wyoming Sem.

Re: 2010-2011 DIII commitment thread

Plattsburgh State:

Chelsea Vanglahn
Forward

Someone reported this earlier on this thread and was able to confirm.

Rumor has it the Lady Cards will also need two goalies this year as Mandy Mackrell will be the only returning netminder.

Re: 2010-2011 DIII commitment thread

Remember at DIII this isn't final until the first day of school, which isn't really final 'til the first organized practice which isn't really final until Christmas break which might be final by the time first semester grades come out.:)

I'm also willing to bet that Augsburg, Concordia-MN, Finlandia and St Kates recruited somebody, even though btd says they have no one.
