Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 3 - It's still not over...statistically
Ugh.
Ugh.
Joe Nathan was just getting in touch with his inner Radke.I only left the room for two minutes to brush my teeth!!! What the hell???

Well, at least I get to watch the game tonight. I'm hoping that the Twins time it perfect, to clinch the division on Sunday, for the last game at the dome, in which I will be in attendance.![]()
I think the Twins need to sweep all four to make a one game playoff likely. I can't see the Sux showing up the last weekend and the Twins will have their hands full with the Royals.
I can't see the Sux showing up the last weekend ...
I thought so at the time, but it worked out for them. Because otherwise, J.K. is still in right in the bottom of the 9th ...I can't even begin to describe how idiotic it was to run Gomez for Kubel.
...Dick Bremer makes it sound like Span had to make an amazing grab to end the inning when it was rather routine.
Not sure. He had to have wheels to get there in the first place, and it is a long shot that Kubel would have. Personally, I'm glad it worked out like it did.90% of major leaguers could have...seriously Bremer has a history of this...everytime Mauer makes a routine stop on a ball in the dirt you would think Bremer just had an orgasm!![]()
I've been as hard on him as anybody, but it is tough to really blame him for that one. He has to try to bunt a pitch that is very, very tough to get down in fair territory. His approach at the plate has actually been very good over the last month. If you PH for him there, who do you send up? Buscher? Harris? It isn't like either guy is going to be a lock in that situation. The right play may have been to let him swing away and hope that Span picks him up if they get Punto out w/o the run scoring. But hindsight is always easier.Whatever they're paying Punto, its too much. ... How many times has he completely botched a bunt this year? I can recall at least three off the top of my head. Granted, like has already been said, he had no business being at the plate in the first place.![]()

Chuck Knoblauch accused of choking wife
HOUSTON -- Former Minnesota Twins second baseman Chuck Knoblauch has been charged with assaulting his common-law wife.
A judge set Knoblauch's bond at $10,000 after he appeared in court Tuesday.
According to a criminal complaint, Knoblauch's wife told police he hit her in the face and then choked her at their west Houston home on Friday.
Knoblauch's attorney did not immediately return a telephone call Tuesday.
The 41-year-old former infielder is a Houston native and a four-time All-Star who played for the New York Yankees, Minnesota Twins and Kansas City Royals from 1991-02.
Knoblauch was one of more than 80 players who were accused of using performance-enhancing drugs in the 2007 Mitchell Report on baseball's steroids era. Knoblauch later acknowledged using performance enhancers.
