2009-2010 USCHO Pre Season poll.

Re: 2009-2010 USCHO Pre Season poll.

The NCHA has not played Adrian because it would not benefit them at all. Why put them in the schedule when it does nothing to progress the NCHA team in the rankings and hurt their SOS. They are much better off now with their insulated schedule and throwing in some MIAC teams.

You are right about this....nothing new here......and I just use the word "fear" the same way you use the word "hurt" ;)

Wouldn't a win over Adrian look better on the pool c resume than a win or loss to Augsburg or St Olaf ??

Adrian has all the reason in the world to want to play an NCHA team,.
.
You are wrong about this however.
Now that the AQ is assured the MCHA champion, I don't think Adrian would have any reason in the world to want to play the NCHA....unless it were a tournament game....and how exciting will that be if or when it happens...??

In the meantime quality MIAC teams aren't concerned about the "hurt" and having a chance to play Oswego is every bit as exciting,... and will drive more interest and discussion East&West than a vist to ....say..Menomonie ;)

NCHA must be considered one of the strongest D3 leagues with 4 colleges represented in the top10 and 2 more with honorable mention votes

Let's hope your name is for a future endevor.

There are only 2 in the Top 10, although there are indeed 4 in the Top 15.

Re: 2009-2010 USCHO Pre Season poll.

I believe that the writers are picked randomly from those submitting ballots. The number or writers varies depending on how many coaches submit ballots to ensure that the number of ballots counted remains constant. That's what we have been told before.

And then there are some of us dorkbrain writers who forget to submit their poll.

(Let's see, what time is it? Ten after three?! Ah, crap!!) :o

I find it amusing that 15 teams get ranked, and 11 make the D-III tourney at the end of the year.

like 20 and 16 in D1? Gives you a look at who's on the bubble, at least in the pollsters' minds.

In DI football, 25 teams get ranked and only two get to make the championship two team tournament.

Anyone hink Utica might have a shot at the top 15 this year??? any thoughts on how they'll do this season? thanks!

Re: 2009-2010 USCHO Pre Season poll.

I'll point out that 2-13 are highly interchangeable in my mind

First off, thanks for posting your ballot as well. The sentence I've highlighted implies that there is a "tier" that includes 12 about equal teams. Not to put words in your mouth but the assertion is that the tier above them includes just one team because they were not in the group that was "interchangeable." Is my interpretation of your poll correct that you consider Manhattanville on a separate level and from the other contenders? If so, why?
