Re: 2009-2010 Official Vermont Season Thread

Looking at the match up this weekend makes me think that this is one of those "I hope they dont play down to the other teams level" kinda games.

So far this year Vermont is 2-0 versus good ECAC teams and have yet to give up a goal. While Dartmouth(3-7) just lost to Sacred Heart 4-1. SH has a record of 4-9-2 and had resently lost 8-2 to Yale.

Should this make us feel good or give us worry?

Re: 2009-2010 Official Vermont Season Thread

so do the polls not matter now that BC is ranked ahead of Yale. or did they not matter way back when you used them as the basis for your argument when Yale was ahead of BC?

ps... it is than

Could you tell me why you keep trying to talk smack in the team thread that is responsible for 66% of your teams losses? It does seem to the wrong tree to bark up to me.

I agree with you Cat Lover. On paper this should be an easy game for UVM, which is why it makes ME nervous.

Practices are limited this week due to finals. They were last week also according to the BFP. Based on last week's result...I would go with the feel good theory. Sometimes coaching is more detrimental than it is good.

On paper it should be an easy game for the Cats. However, UVM has a tendency to play close games against most opponents, so I expect a close game. It would be nice to get an easy win, they really have not had one this year.

Why the cheap shot at the coach, observer? Last week's result was nothing if not coaching. Devising a powerplay unit - with 3 defensemen - last seen in 1968 when Hall of Famers Doug Harvey, a young Bobby Orr, and Denis Potvin manned the PP for the Wales Conference All Stars. That's coaching and it impacted the outcome of the St. Lawrence game.

So, while the players are doing their finals, the coach is obviously thinking and coaching, and the team benefits from that coaching, is not detrimented by it.

1. Doug Harvey wasn't an All-star in 1968.
2. Denis Potvin was 15 in 1968.
3. In 1968 the all-star game was Toronto Maple Leafs vs. the remainder of the NHL all-stars. (http://www.hockey-reference.com/allstar/NHL_1968_roster.html)

When all d-men were healthy, Lowell's was using 3 d-men on the PP for most of last season and the early part of this season.

Didn't meatloaf write a song called "zero out of four ain't bad"???

well i could act all catamounty and say that BC is responsible for 17% of the elephant walker's losses... but that seems low to me, perhaps that is because vermont loses to everybody

did vermont pack it up and call it a season after winning 2 games? heck, even in the tournament last year they played 3 games before pooping out and calling it quits

You're wrong about 1968 and did Lowell's 3 PP defensemen produce like Miller (1g-5a in 15 games), MacKenzie (0g-5a in 14 games), and Lawson (0g-0a in 10 games)?

Re: 2009-2010 Official Vermont Season Thread

How about a Vermont 2009 season banner for actually having a replay system that works.

Might as well. It will go good next to the banner you got for beating BU twice last year and for beating Yale and Air Force last year as well.

If UNH and UVM were to combine their programs, you'd need a building the size of the Superdome to fit all those banners.

(I know I know, ... "sure we lost by 6 but that would have changed the complexion of the game!!!!"... sure.)

Why should VT or any other team care what some guy in AZ thinks about how many banners they put up, What's it to ya ?
