I bet Campbell will suspend Ovie to "send a message" that he isn't soft. He should've done that with Cooke.

I don't see how he can suspend him after he let Cooke off the hook. It will be interesting to justify that.

The justification rolling around out there is that hitting from behind is a penalty, but slugging a guy in the head with your elbow/shoulder isn't.

Well, he didn't hit him, he pushed him. He doesn't fall off his skates and there is no penalty.

Ovi shoved a guy in the back who was skaing hard towards the boards. What did he think he was going to do, a triple toe loop? Of course not. Ovi knew he was going head first into the boards, unless he really is as stupid as Mike Milbury.

He didn't push him that hard. He could've stayed on his skates and cushioned himself before gracefully hitting the boards.

:D

DirecTV and Versus have come to an agreement. Finally.

More news: Alex Ovechkin suspended for two games by the NHL.

If he was on the receiving end of that hit, with the same result, how much longer is that suspension? 3x?

Caveat: Let's assume in this hypothetical that Crosby is not the one delivering the hit.

Re: 2009-2010 NHL Season Part 3: After The Gold Rush

The mass inconsistency continues. Hopefully next year head shots will get suspended as well.

After being witness to the NCAA's attempts at eliminating them (or at least how the CCHA calls 'em), I cannot WAIT to see the slew of "Contact to the head: _____" calls made while the "interference" that they're claiming to clean up gets worse.

One thing I did find interesting is a few 'Hawks fans co-workers thought that Campbell lost his edge going into the boards, and thought it was a clean hit.

Then again, they're happy that the defensive turn-style is out for the rest of the season.

How the NHL decided Ovechkin's punishment.

I don't know, a ruthless scumbag with a laundry list of prior crimes tried to take out Crosby's knees and as of right now, he's not going to see any kind of punishment.

Trying to figure out how the league operates is well beyond my capacity for reason because the league operates sans logic or common sense.

You are clearly not familiar with GLM's blog work. The Wheel Of Justice is all-seeing, all-knowing, all-deciding.

Re: 2009-2010 NHL Season Part 3: After The Gold Rush

Wow, talk about being technically right but missing the point entirely:
Boudreau: "I don't think it does the game any favor to have Alex suspended. That's just me, that's just my opinion."

Re: 2009-2010 NHL Season Part 3: After The Gold Rush

Just picked up Bruins-Capitals tickets for the last game of the season.

Anybody ever buy an authentic jersey? What's your experience been like?
