Re: 2009-2010 NHL Season Part 3: After The Gold Rush

As much as I hate having those guys in the WCHA (along with Brian Thul), I don't want them anywhere near the NHL.

Instead, I propose a straight-up trade with HOCKY RAST. Their least favorite officials for ours! That way, each conference gets some new officials to whine about. :D
Shepherd and Anderson would definitely not be on my least favorite list. They can have Thul and Mason.

Oh, if only Conrad Hache was still around.

You can have Bunyan and Fryer. We keep Gravellese if only because he's got personality...

Was it Randy Schmidt who had the porbno stache back in the day...we need him back!

Re: 2009-2010 NHL Season Part 3: After The Gold Rush

The Downie play is kind of tricky. In no way do I want to defend the guy because has a bad history with stuff like this. But all he really did was fall. He did ride Crosby for a long time but based off of his body positioning it looks like he was just trying to put Crosby into the boards when he fell. He didn't use his stick on Crosby, he didn't hit from behind, it wasn't a hit to the head. Downie fell, thats it. Unfortunately for Sid it happened to be on the back of his leg.

I suppose a suspension could have been warranted for intent to injure but if Cooke didn't get one then I don't see why Downie would too.
Watch closer. Downie positions his leg right behind Crosby and then goes down. It's a very deliberate move. Look at his left arm too...it's grabbing Crosby's leg.

I'm faaaar from a Crosby fan, but that's not even is Matt Cooke's cheap repertoire...

8-2? Oy. What needs to happen to the San Jose roster this offseason- (and because I need to use this gif.)

I hopped in a time machine and traveled to August. Thornton will be traded! ;)

Seriously though, I don't profess to know exactly why the Sharks are such huge chokers, other than to say that they obviously don't know how to sign guys who have the balls to perform well in the postseason. Even though it's fun to mock their usual playoff ineptitude, I almost feel bad for them and would not at all mind seeing them play in a SCF one of these days.

Devils going 1980's retro tonight with the red & green jerseys for the first time since 1992. Brodeur will be wearing a mask featuring the same paint-job of when he was called-up on emergency loan from juniors that season.

55th anniversary of the Richard Riot - certainly one of the crazier events in the history of the NHL.

Re: 2009-2010 NHL Season Part 3: After The Gold Rush

Gee, maybe the Devils should have broken out the red & green duds earlier.

Re: 2009-2010 NHL Season Part 3: After The Gold Rush

I know there's a couple Chicago fans/followers on here....so....

Why on earth is Corey Crawford in net tonight?

Re: 2009-2010 NHL Season Part 3: After The Gold Rush

So far, Chris Durno is the only Avs player who remembered that Toskala is in the guy in the Flames' net, not Kiprusoff.

Why on earth is Corey Crawford in net tonight?

The mafia locked Huet in a weighted trunk and sent him to the bottom of Lake Michigan. ;)

I think it's safe to say that was THE craziest event in NHL history.

Re: 2009-2010 NHL Season Part 3: After The Gold Rush

It sure as heck looked like CHI defenseman Brent Seabrook was just out cold on the way down to the ice after being run by former teammate James Wisniewski, who charged from blue line to backboard with bad intentions.

17:00 left in a 1-1 game. This may get interesting.

And the Blackhawks goaltender is making his first start of the season.
