Most ENG goals are boring. That one actually wasn't.

4-1 Detroit, 3-2 series, headed back to Joe Louis. Not bad. :)

If Phoenix doesn't get their PP going, they're going to have a tough go in Game 6 at JLA. 0-for-16 since scoring three PPG in Game 1, I believe.

Flippula does a Datsyukian steal and passes to Zetterberg for the ENG.

Make that 0-for-19. On one hand...they're due, but one the other hand...they have to get more traffic in front of the net. With one goal allowed on 60 shots, Howard is stopping it if he sees it. That shutout was big for his confidence.

So I missed the scuffle at the end of the Bruins game to watch the end of the Celtics game, and the Boston Globe is saying that Chara may be suspended since he got the instigator penalty with under 5 mins to go in the third. Its a mandatory 1 game suspension pending league review.

This is the playoffs, I didnt see anything in there that warrants a suspension. I see that the Buffalo guy got a minor for slashing Chara to start all that, so I dont understand the suspension for instigating anything on Chara (if the NHL takes the route).

If anything Miller almost instigated that to the next level in the pile.

The National Hockey League announced today that the instigator penalty assessed to Boston Bruins’ defenseman Zdeno Chara at the conclusion of last night’s game has been rescinded.

At the end of the third period, Chara was assessed a minor penalty for instigating, a major for fighting and a game misconduct under Rule 47.12, resulting in an automatic one game suspension, pending review.

The League has reviewed the incident and rescinded the automatic suspension under Rule 47.22, which states: “the suspension shall be served unless, upon review of the incident, the Director of Hockey Operations, at his discretion, deems the incident is not related to the score, previous incidents in the game or prior games, retaliatory in nature, ‘message sending,’ etc.”

What did you expect Miller to do? Bs had a PP and an empty-net. So, they were outmanned 6-4. Is he supposed to just sit there??

So I guess you don't like that Tukka wanted to get involved?

Once [Rask] saw Miller jump into the ruckus, he looked at veteran backup Tim Thomas, who could be seen shaking his head.

Ryan Miller said:
"I knew it wasn't going to stop," he said. "I just got there for support and I was just going to pick the guy who wanted to double-up one of our guys. Miro was probably just trying to pull somebody off their guy, but any advantage they're going to get and their guy is going to swing, so I have to get in there and help out."

Gee, it's almost like the Sabres were outmanned 4-6 and their goaltender decided to stand up for one of his players...

You'd never hear the word "sucks" chanted at any arena in Boston! :D

Chara's booed/targeted in a lot of rinks. He takes it as a badge of honour, and why not? Fans don't get on opposing players who actually suck.

I asked a few pages back if he was down injured or something when they chanted it. If so, yeah maybe that crosses the line. But my initial reaction on hearing that they chanted was that I've heard 100 things worse than that said at sporting events.

Its alright. This all comes from a fanbase with which the majority were happy to get T.O. for the Bills and thought he would make an impact. I talked to one fan in Upstate New York in August while I was up there for a few days and he predicted Super Bowl for the Bills and thought "Trent Edwards would have a transforming year and will be a pro bowler and Super Bowl MVP."

Oh well, they should enjoy the Bills while they can before they move to Toronto.

P.S. Sabres...get some new road jerseys. That Banana Slug is awful.

Making ridiculous statements about your team is unique to Buffalo? I must have imagined those "We'll get 110 points and win the Northeast" / "Marco Sturm and Michael Ryder will each score 25-30 goals" / "We won't need Phil Kessel's goal-scoring this year" / "Bruins will certainly be one of the top 3-4 favourites for the Cup" posts on Boston.com this season!

And don't get me started on some of the foolhardy things I read on Habsinsideout.com!

Every team's with enough serious fans to matter has essentially the same fanbase: a bunch of people who are overly pessimistic combined with a bunch more who are overly optomistic. The remaining .5% are USCHO posters who follow the NHL--the intelligent, sane, and rational ones! :D

"Sucks" is a G-rated night in the Fenway Bleachers, certainly!

Can't yell "sucks" in Ralph Engelstad. We were threatened with ejection on that one.

How nice of NBC to bury the National Anthem for the Hawks/Preds game.

It is a badge of honor. I'm not a fan of Chara, but all the great ones going back from Gretzky to Esposito to Bobby Hull have been booed when they're on the road.
