Boneheaded penalty by the Canucks' bench and the series is tied at 1.

Another good game.

And unless Nashville wins tomorrow, every single series will go at least 5 games.

Hurray!

God I hate Montreal and their fanbase. Even if the Caps weren't my second team, this would be satisfying to see those bigots take it on the chin.

All positive tonight. Caps win and Ryan O'Byrne can't be blamed for any of the six goals Les Glorieux gave up *cough* benched *cough*.

On O'Byrne, I actually think it's been a big mistake not having him in the line-up so far. I realize that most people's experience with O'Byrne starts and ends with his own goal from last year; however, he had a very solid year, and IMHO fare much better on D than MAB. I'd much prefer to see O'Byrne on the blue line, MAB on the 4th line wing, and Darche out.

I assume their philosophy is that they are playing a high scoring team, and they want to have as much offense from their defense as they can get. May or may not be the right move.

I'm not sure there's a measurable impact between sitting Darche and dressing O'Byrne offensively. Getting MAB off of D and playing the wing for 6-7 shifts a game and point on PP while O'Byrne is paired with Markov is a huge improvement on D, and gives the Habs a crease clearer. Washingotn buzzed Halak the last 30 minutes of that game. That's mitigated with O'Byrne.

Al drops the octopus, and Phoenix scores 29 seconds in.

Eff hockey.

Nice PP by Detroit

Re: 2009-2010 NHL Playoffs Part 1: How will the Sharks screw it up this time?

That was a moronic penalty by Detroit.

And it reminds me of one of my pet peeves: committing a second penalty on a delayed penalty and getting the puck back: call the second one.

Now Detroit to the PP for a horse-excrement call.

Sucks to see Howard give up a goal that quickly. On the other hand, someone should introduce Detroit to backchecking.

The Red Wings are like a super-talented kid who's willing to work just hard enough to succeed, but not a bit more.

Ah yes, the retaliation penalty. If you are "retaliating" didn't the first guy commit a penalty first?

Re: 2009-2010 NHL Playoffs Part 1: How will the Sharks screw it up this time?

That wouldn't be the first time this season he's coughed up a goal less than a minute into the game. We've learned to grin and bare it.

After seeing Detroit's general lack of intensity at the start of each game this series, that doesn't surprise me in the least. :p

That said, Go Detroit!

Also not surprising when you consider that a bunch of AHL kids & waiver claims were close to being Top 6 forwards back in Dec./Jan.

Fat rebound by Jimmy

I see Detroit's going for a red-out today....oh wait, those are empty seats.

And he's still brutal when forced to move laterally.

Not a great game from Jimmy. Soft rebound on the first goal. Fourth goal was brutal.

It looks like Detroit doesn't have a great goaltending option on their roster. But they have a bigger, more immediate problem. I've been away from the NHL for a while but from the 3 games in this series, the Phoenix Coyotes are just a better hockey team.
