Just had a thought that one of the big things that is missing in Congress right now are the old State/District kingpins, from both parties. The Ted Kennedys, the Ted Stevens’ that were nigh untouchable and truly wielded the power of their respective parties. The ones who someone like Elmo would threaten to primary and they’d laugh in response.

We really shouldn’t have gotten rid of earmarks.

When you consider how conservative the US historically already was (since a majority of Democrats qualify as centrist or center-right in the context of world politics), the chart is even more ridiculous.

But I'm sure "both sides" are at fault, somehow.
