119th congress: must be at least 75 to chair a committee!

I don't think Schumer survives this. The blowback is immense and widespread.

It's not entirely clear cloture is going to happen tomorrow after watching this reaction. I can only imagine other senators wondering about primaries in 2026.

If cloture fails, I think he'd be forced to step down.
Anyone who hasn't been doing at least what AOC, Bernie, Chris Murphy, and there's probably a few others I haven't heard as much from, NEED to be primaried.

The Dems need to learn that their way of doing things is over, the old ways need to die. Along with a lot of their leadership.

The Democratic establishment has no idea how to handle the new political reality. They are still mentally back in the Clinton era and spiritually back with, Christ I dunno, Adlai Stephenson?

The GOP broke in an entirely new direction. It's fascist and pathetic and mind-blowingly stupid, but it is an adaptation to the new reality. The Dems are still pouring over poli sci texts from the 1960s thinking they are being strategic. They are as out of place as Mondale and "Happy Days Are Here Again" being played at the DNC in preparation to be mowed down by Reagan's blitzkrieg of corporate financed televangelical derp.

A new approach is needed. It aint Bernie's Eugene Debs reboot, either. Maybe it is AOC. But if we have a genuinely new fiscal Weltanschauung it will probably have to be delivered by somebody most Americans can see themselves hanging out with, and too much of the Heartland is too sexist and racist and loony for Jebus for her.

The vast majority of Dems have been voting against these nominations and bills.

He should have never run in 2024. It's absolutely fucked up priorities to run when you have cancer, your future is uncertain, and won't be able to fulfill your duties to your constituents and country while in office.

I'm sorry but this whole idea that deathbed politicians can continue to run and sit in office needs to change.
You should be immediately ineligible if you are diagnosed with a terminal illness in the year prior to, or during the election cycle.
