NEWS: The U.S. Capitol Police have issued a statement to members of Congress expressing "profound disappointment" with McConnell and McCarthy's positions on the Jan. 6 commission, citing the "trauma" that officers endured that day.

Honestly why are people surprised about this? Mitch has been trying to wash his hands of this since 1/7. He voted against Impeachment while also blaming the President for what happened because half his underlings will revolt if he speaks out of turn. He has no more control of his caucus than Qevin McQarthy does.

Who said they were surprised? I’m just looking for another reason to use the “f” word on this message board.

It’s too bad he’s going to lose the Senate race in Ohio by 7 points to JD Vance while his current seat flips red.

Ohio is lost, we knew that already, but Ohio is also dying. If the trade for Ohio going red is Arizona going blue and only getting bluer as it grows and gains more EV and seats in Congress in the next 20-30 years, that's a trade even a braindead GM would make.

This writ large for the entire Midwest vs the Southwest.

Lose IN (11), OH (17), MI (15), IA (6), WI (10) = 59; gain NM (5), NV (6), AZ (11), TX (40) = 62? Deal!

Ohio can dwindle to two people, and they’ll be the two Senators. When Sherrod retires, that’s a lost seat. When Manchin retires, that’s a lost seat. He may not even win re-election in 2024. Same for Tester. We are 50/50 in the Senate because of a miraculous set of circumstances, like someone my age and a black guy winning Senate seats in Georgia.
Arizona gained 0 seats this past decade. As for Texas, when can we really count on it turning blue? 2032? 2036? I read some article on Crystal Ball the other day that came up with scenarios to abolish the 435 seats. With the GOP in the driver’s seat again for redistricting and likely winning a couple seats through reapportionment alone, Biden may have a friendly Senate come 2022, thanks to Tester/Manchin/Warnock holding off a Collins-type candidate, but I think the House is red next year, despite the internal fighting amongst the GOP. Unless they split into two parties, we all know the average GOP voter doesn’t give a fuck, or doesn’t even know, about the internal fighting right now.

I don’t understand the numbers on the bottom part of your post. We already regularly win New Mexico and Nevada. Those aren’t new states in our column.

Nobody is surprised- but it should constantly be pointed out the incredibly blatant hypocrisy comparing the hours and hours and hours of hearings over Benghazi and the fact they want to cover up almost the same assault on the US capitol building.

Just need to repost that small point as many times as possible.

The Racist party does nothing for policy or reason, they do everything for power. They are very evil to this country.

Of course, this will not turn the people who follow them. But seeing the massive split in the R party- at least somebody is paying attention. None the less, the people who pretend to have some kind of objection to this should also be called out for causing this whole episode- like Bush, Cheney, and the rest of the POS's that ran that administration. Let alone the "tea party" bs that came along in 2010.

As have been pointed out many times, the roots of this movement started with reagan. It's been fear and tax cuts since then.

Yeah, but Tim, we don't have two political parties. We have one. And we better figure out how to do it that way for a while.

We have one political party with ideas and solutions (regardless of your feelings about said ideas and solutions). The other party has decided to fully embrace being a organized crime syndicate whose only goal is absolute control of government at all levels. If folks can't see that at this point, then they're permanently lost.
