I wouldn’t read that much into it - many “caucuses” exist in parallel with the parties without threatening to splinter off.

It's not a competing party, it's a caucus within the Republican party. "For those for whom the GOP isn't white supremacist enough and the Freedumb caucus isn't stupid enough here's a caucus that takes both to eleven."
 
This is interesting. If you read through there are various measures Manchin supports, and that would make him look good to his constituents, that will get whacked by the Nazis unless we end the filibuster. Manchin's "principles" are, obviously, a cynical bargaining position, and two can play at that game. The Dem leadership can play this right and really put his nuts in a vise.
 
I hope that, like the coronavirus relief bill, Manchin talks a big game, almost plays a big game, and then votes for basically the exact same infrastructure bill Biden originally proposed. Let the man play out his “opposition” for the cameras. At least he’s not wearing “Fuck off” rings and putting those pictures online.
In other news, Eric Greitens, former Gov. of Missouri before it turned out he liked fucking and subsequently blackmailing women, hired Kimberly Guilfoyle yesterday as his campaign chairwoman for his Senate race. Can’t imagine why he’d do such a thing...
