117th Congress: DEMS IN DISARRAY!!!111!!

Just an observation...it’s interesting Collins is attacked so relentlessly by the Dems but Republicans hardly ever attack Manchin(unless I’m missing something). For me one strategy is likely to be a lot more successful than the other.

That is an interesting observation.

Sorry but to quote what you always say...time to put them on the record. Manchin is out in front spitting on half the stuff the Dems want, well then he has to take the wrath that comes. This is no different than when AOC holds the moderate wing's feet to the fire on issues. (like she has been about student debt forgiveness since Biden said he is against it) You have to fight, and you have to do it publicly if they are openly defiant. That is how the rubes know you mean business.

I would agree with you if Manchin wasnt so out front and vocal about his oppositions. But if he is going to go on the cable news shows and bloviate then we need to fight fire with fire.

Biden isn’t against student debt forgiveness. He’s just against cancelling $50,000 worth of it. He said he’s on board with $10,000, but wants to see if Congress can pass it first. Since we all know they won’t, unless that somehow can be included in a budget reconciliation bill, it may be the end of the year before we see him potentially take any action. Maybe even longer. It definitely doesn’t seem like as high of a priority to Biden as other issues.

I had one of the Trump Socialist Morons on Facebook say that he'd rather they cancel medical debt than student debt. Seemed to indicate that student debt is fucking voluntary. To an extent, yes. But, then again, in some cases medical debt is voluntary. Every can do a better job to be healthy and our food supply has some fucking really intense issues around that. The Sugar Lobby for example.

I'm all for cancelling both of them to be honest. We need to enable people to be able to work, get jobs, and spend money for the economy and the anchors of student debt and medical debt are fucking us in the ass.

I’m shocked a Trump supporter advocated cancelling any kind of debt, seeing as that balloons the deficit or something, something...
I agree with your last paragraph, including on using two l’s in the word* cancelling.

Not saying this in a mean way but I don’t think you understand Trump supporters very well. They definitely want to have their cake and eat it too.

Yeah, I think he was trying to get an argument started by complaining about what Biden is doing by offering what he considers a better alternative that his party won't support anyway.

It's the old bait, switch, and then kill that Turtle Boy uses all the time.

Republicans: "Student debt is voluntary, I'm not paying for someone else's kid to go to college."

Also Republicans: "We're hiring an intern for $15/hr. Qualifications - B.S. degree or 2+ years of industry experience."

I know but that isnt the point of what I am saying. When he said he didn't like it AOC and the Progressive Wing (with Schumer of all people) came out and pushed harder. That is how you play the game. You dont just kick some dirt, put your head down and say "aw shucks well better luck next time!". If the issue is a big deal you fight. When the issue is popular with the majority of people you fight even harder. Biden gets that which is why I doubt he took any offense.

Manchin has been around long enough that he should know if he is speaking publicly against his own party's agenda he is going to take flack for it. Hell I am sure he went to Schumer before he did it and was warned. He obviously doesn't mind taking the heat so give it to him with both barrels. He is only going to help if he fears the Dems more than he fears his people in WV. No amount of pork bribery will flip him.

drew,

The reason the Left attacks Collins is because they have been burned trusting her too much. The reason the GOP doesn't attack Manchin is because he literally never burns them on things like appointments. They know he is closer to them than us so they leave him alone. We know she will never defy her GOP Masters on a vote that matters (unless she has cover) either because she agrees or because she gets all of the pork so there is no reason to treat her as anything but a GOPer.

Very well stated. I agree 100%.

I did not like how AOC equated providing apartments to UNACCOMPANIED MINOR IMMIGRANTS, to taking babies away from their parents and locking them in cages. It’s not the same, and making that claim is not worth a clickbait tweet for cheap points.

Here is more info on the Stephen Miller/ AOC alliance which is trying to take down Biden over his perfectly reasonable immigration policies

Holy ****. Every day I get closer to closing my account. I've been on it for a very long time (TheFacebook.com) and I like keeping in touch and seeing what others are up to, but man alive this is a vile company.

Me too. (TheFacebook) Problem is I use my Oculus Quest for workouts and a few other things and Facebook owns Oculus and requires an account. 99.99% of my stuff is in a private group for that. I think in the last 6 months the only post I had was about the Inauguration mocking the Trumpers I know. Other than that I don't use it much.
