It isn't great. Certainly behind the scenes. Certainly make life difficult for him in the caucus. But not in front of the rubes.

Unless it's 4D chess and this is how we are going to hold on to our red state Members. "Yeah, I'll vote for Joe again, he really owns the libs!"
 
If Manchin is being a turd about a particular vote on something, then there's nothing wrong with publicly calling him out on it. The guy has 4 freakin' years to worry about his re-election chances.

If the socialist wing of the party were smart, they would deal with Nancy to ram all their pipe dream legislation through the House so that Manchin can shoot it down in the Senate for show, while voting for the things that we know need to be done for everyone's sake.

Does Joe Manchin respond well to being called out publicly? Based on what we know about him, and how he’s responded in the past, I’m thinking probably not.
I agree that everything feasible under a budget reconciliation bill should be included in the House’s bill, but I doubt it was. Ram more in on the next one though. Maybe moderates in the House and Sinema/Manchin will ease up some on the “X has nothing to do with coronavirus crisis at hand” viewpoint.

Definitely fair criticism. Being the first female big pharma CEO doesn't excuse that. Women are perfectly capable of being ghouls, too. They just haven't been given an equal chance yet. Someone please, think of the female millionaires! ;-)

Sorry but to quote what you always say...time to put them on the record. Manchin is out in front spitting on half the stuff the Dems want, well then he has to take the wrath that comes. This is no different than when AOC holds the moderate wing's feet to the fire on issues. (like she has been about student debt forgiveness since Biden said he is against it) You have to fight, and you have to do it publicly if they are openly defiant. That is how the rubes know you mean business.

I would agree with you if Manchin wasnt so out front and vocal about his oppositions. But if he is going to go on the cable news shows and bloviate then we need to fight fire with fire.

I did not like how AOC equated providing apartments to UNACCOMPANIED MINOR IMMIGRANTS, to taking babies away from their parents and locking them in cages. It’s not the same, and making that claim is not worth a clickbait tweet for cheap points.

Just an observation...it’s interesting Collins is attacked so relentlessly by the Dems but Republicans hardly ever attack Manchin(unless I’m missing something). For me one strategy is likely to be a lot more successful than the other.
