Edit: holy crap even that deal won't get him to 218 according to sources. Motion to vacate at 1 vote is suicide and yet it still isn't good enough.

I donned a very thick tinfoil hat this morning when I saw Gaetz wanted to be chair of the house armed services committee.

And it clicked. Are any of these demands from the Taliban Caucus for positions that could put someone we REALLY don't want on the Gang of Eight?

Thankfully, it seems that Mike Turner is likely going to be chair of House Intelligence. But that still leaves the speaker. I think we could be in real trouble if someone insane gets Speaker. Sure, nothing comes out of the House in terms of legislation. But it basically gets the Russians or whomever else is funding the GOP a seat on one of the most powerful intelligence bodies on earth.

Anyways, I took a step back towards reality and started to wonder how much of this is actually because of malicious intent? Not the kind we flippantly discuss here.

Because down the road, when they vote against bills to help Americans, they can claim that the Government doesn't work and point to the Speaker fiasco as Example A.

They wanted chaos, they're getting chaos.



In other words: The GOP who wanted a small enough government to drown in a bathtub is being pushed into the same bathtub from behind by their fellow members.
 
Honestly, I don't think that there is ANY sort of plan for the R's currently...

They are all acting independently and chaotic. Unfortunately that sometimes comes together to create something that can somewhat resemble a plan to overthrow the US Government. So we need to stand ready.

On a different note, if you want to go into tinfoil hat territory there is this:

If the R's really have intentions of burning down the US Government, they somehow put Trump as Speaker. From there, they know their base can be motivated and they get nut jobs to take shots (literally) at both Biden and Harris. This is done knowing that Dumpy is #3 in succession.

Reality is that some of the most extreme nut jobs on the bottom are stupid/brazen enough to try it. And they are so fucking stupid about it, I'm worried that their attempt may actually work. I know that the Secret Service is no joke. But I'm also aware that the last 6-7 years have been non-stop "Hold My Beer..." challenges thrown at us by existence.
