I wouldn't say they "like" the people you mentioned...they just sort of consider them "friendly". Think of it like the how Nazi Commanders thought of the Jews they let be in guards in the camps...

The GOP is not helping Santos out much...hell the Republican DA of Nassau County is investigating him and Senator Collins is openly ripping him on tv!
 
They only need him in office until he votes for Neuter McCarthy to be speaker, and then suddenly "new information has come to light" and they'll force him out.
