Re: 116th Congress: Episode 2 The Turtle Has Total Control

Do the revenge porn laws, in this case I assume California, apply to "redistribution" by someone other than a person in the relationship?

The problem that Hill ran into is timing. If this were just a "normal" time politically, this might have been a good case for Democratic House members and others to rally around her and fight this revenge porn attack. Unfortunately for her, these are not "normal" political times. At this point the House leadership can't have any distractions from their mission at hand, especially a lurid ethics investigation of a sitting member.

If only she had only had six affairs and had three abortions.

Or was a white, male Republican.

Yes, and I'm sure you can work with Republicans to pass a law that Facebook has to follow regarding election ads, right? Come one, work with them.

Wasn't there some pretty ****ing testimony yesterday regarding Ukraine? Basically to the tune of there were multiple people thinking, "w t f" during the call?

nm I think I found it - it was from Vindman I believe. And apparently it's triggering the hell out of Orange Droolius.

If a respected and highly decorated war veteran is a "Never Trumper", it kinda gives honor to that title, doesn't it?

If the downturn hits before Nov. 2020 their numbers will crater. Impeach + a downturn is too much to deal with.

Re: 116th Congress: Episode 2 The Turtle Has Total Control

This sh-t again.

The 2018 election was a squeaker for Georgia Republicans, with Democrat Stacey Abrams nearly eking out a win. Without a concerted voter suppression effort from then-Secretary of State and now-Governor Brian Kemp, she might have made it. That voter suppression started in 2017, when Kemp's office purged 534,199 voters from the rolls, the largest single voter purge ever. Since that worked, Georgia Republicans are going to do it again.

This round targets about 330,000 registered voters who haven't participated in elections in the past few years, though this time around, the state will have to notify them that it's happening. The state is going to send notifications beginning in the next few weeks to the last known address of the inactive voters, giving them 30 days to respond. Voters can either use a provided postage-paid registration form to keep their registration active, or reregister online, mail a form, or vote on Nov. 5. The state will remove the names of those who don't respond in December.

Republicans: if they don't cheat, they can't win.

Isn’t two days plenty of time to read eight pages, go on a drunken bender, and still have time to sober up?

You think these clowns know how to read? They broke into a closed door session some of them were invited to for Pete's sake.

I just assume the words were too blurry for Gaetz. The words aren't supposed to move on the page, right?

Re: 116th Congress: Episode 2 The Turtle Has Total Control

And this morning, according to a Congressional Quarterly transcript, McConnell stood on the floor of the Senate and condemned a productive House Democratic majority for taking “a one-year vacation.”

“Look, I think it’s pretty clear our Democratic colleagues do not have a great affinity for President Trump, but the country cannot afford for Democrats in Congress to take a one-year vacation from any productive legislation just because they’d rather obsess over impeachment.”

Last week, for example, the Democratic House majority passed another election-security bill, the second legislative effort on the issue to pass the lower chamber this year. It was the latest in a series of examples of the House advancing legislative priorities, despite the ongoing investigations into Trump’s many scandals.

Indeed, as regular readers know, in every Congress, the House majority leadership, regardless of which party is in control, sets aside the first 10 available bill numbers. It’s intended as a symbolic way to signal a party’s top legislative priorities: H.R. 1 through H.R. 10 will reflect the leadership’s most important goals.

So far this year, the House Democratic majority has passed its democracy-reform package (H.R. 1), the Equality Act to expand civil rights to LGBTQ Americans (H.R. 5), the Dream and Promise Act (H.R. 6), the Paycheck Fairness Act to address pay disparities between men and women (H.R. 7), a bill to expand background checks on gun purchases (H.R. 8), and a bill to address the climate crisis (H.R. 9).

House Dems have also passed bills to lower prescription drug costs, expand the Violence Against Women Act, and expand the Dream Act for young immigrants.

Hypocrisy, thy name is Turtle Boy.
