No idea. Doesn't matter. I don't care what you guys say..but you better not get Donald Trump elected again.

lol yeah it would be terrible for you to actually understand an issue before spouting off about it

If you want, you can explain the full economic implications behind a 90% tax in 2019 (the pros and cons of both the short and long term).

Beyond that, you can't implement it. So, its only impacts are a PR campaign that damages democrat control of congress.

Well let's see. In 2016 in the States Hillary needed to win the margin was smaller than the amount of votes cast for Jill Stein.
In 2000 the margin in Florida was way way way smaller than the amount cast for Ralph Nader.

Maybe this time they should NOT pick the centrist and go with the progressive and those votes would stay home. It's worth a try. Everything else has failed.

That's true. Was in a hurry and missed that.

But the general point holds. Its terrible PR and political poison unless you want Donald Trump part 2. And bad policy because the long term capital tax rates are the real problem.

Just type “I was wrong” and move on. :)

Re: 116th Congress: Episode 1 - Trial by Fire

Imagine there's business leadership that creates enough business value to create many jobs (probably your job). That doesn't get created without that leadership. So that person continues to get compensated well to continue generating that value - say $400k a year. A 90% tax rate puts them at $40k and probably looking at financial assistance. 50% tax on the affluent is good. 90% is just terrible policy.

Nice deflection from your willful ignorance of the topic at hand, but then again you're well-known for this in the Religion thread, so I shouldn't be surprised at all.

Just type “I was wrong” and move on. :)

In a political thread on a message board? Who would do such a thing!? :p

No one is advocating for taxing 90% of all income. The make $400k keep $40k scenario is not what anyone is saying. Maybe you should break out the ol' google machine and learn what marginal rates are and how they work, that would seem to come well before you get to the "full economic implications" behind implementing it.

Re: 116th Congress: Episode 1 - Trial by Fire

And for those that don't get it here's some "facts" from Elizabeth Warren's Facebook that she just posted that you need to read.

This year the wealthiest top 0.1% in America are projected to owe 3.2% of their wealth in taxes. The bottom 99% are projected to owe 7.2%. My new Ultra-Millionaire Tax helps level the playing field by asking the 0.1% to pay their fair share.

These are facts that have been ****ing me off for decades and Paul Ryan has been masturbating to for decades.

"Yeah, you guys are the problem!"

Trump and where we're at today as a country was decades in the making and as things have steadily shifted to the right in this country with limited pushback from the center.

***k off, Rick. You’re part of the issue. Crocodile tears in this op ed

“I won’t end on immigration but the dems better start dealing”

He's lying. The Dreamers for wall deal was already there and rejected by the White House and the GOP. It will be rejected by them again. Republicans never met a lie they wouldn't tell.

Like Rick Scott cares about anyone darker than him...

Exact same narrative that Josh Hawley was pushing in interviews with the Missouri press this past week while I was there. Blamed the shutdown on Congress, never mentioned Dump (because the fcker campaigned for him, obviously).

would love to know what she is including there?

was trying to sell mookie's wealth tax and income tax to country club peeps. of course they were ghastly against it :p
one dude came back with bottom 70% or something only paying 3.something percent.

mookie had to put a stop to that since it doesn't included fica. this gets them over 10% and obviously the toppers stop 'contributing' at 128'ish K so their rate could legitimately not move.... immediately another topical point was approached :D

need to included usage taxes too that flow into general ledger. gas tax for one. lot of funds get dumped into that bucket to spend. would guess housing costs move poor workers farther from the city and increase their fair share of taxes paid to fill up ol' betsy. :D

someone lays this all out, and 70 or 90% may seem to low :)

So there seems to be lots of support for a 90% tax rate.

Imagine there's business leadership that creates enough business value to create many jobs (probably your job). That doesn't get created without that leadership. Wow, this is Drew level stupidity.

Learn how marginal tax rates work and come back
