115th Congress the final chapter: And Gerry Mander as the Speaker.

Re: 115th Congress the final chapter: And Gerry Mander as the Speaker.

I liken it to Mark Sanford, who I don't like but the dude got caught blowing off his job as Gov to have an affair so he had to resign and his wife divorced him. If several years later the voters of SC think he's straightened out his personal life and is rededicated to doing his job, that's up to them if they want to give him a second chance and send him to Congress.

Hey if Marion Berry can get re-elected anyone can ;)

Re: 115th Congress the final chapter: And Gerry Mander as the Speaker.

Going to be pretty tough to be Speaker of the House now.

Retired Ohio State wrestling coach Russ Hellickson reached out to two ex-team members and asked them to support their former assistant coach, Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, a day after they accused the powerful congressman of turning a blind eye to alleged sexual abuse by the team doctor, according to the wrestlers and text messages they shared with NBC News.

The former wrestlers said their ex-coach made it clear to them he was under pressure from Jordan to get statements of support from members of the team.

Wait, he has an out. NBC is fake news.

Look at you trying the scarlet trick :)

Re: 115th Congress the final chapter: And Gerry Mander as the Speaker.

That wasnt what I was doing I was posting the article to back up the point that trends are all showing a Dem surge. But its all good :)

Trends were pointing that way 2 yrs ago until the Ds stepped on land mines.

Someone still doesn't understand polls. They were accurate. The analysis of them was wrong.

And are you really hanging your hat on the fact that about 50,000 votes in 3 states out of 120 million cast changed the outcome thanks to the geographical peculiarities of the electoral college?

Re: 115th Congress the final chapter: And Gerry Mander as the Speaker.

Not big on correct punctuation, eh, Handy?

:D

Actually I wasnt finishing a thought so an ellipse works. But honestly no on a message board punctuation and grammar are pretty worthless ;)

Re: 115th Congress the final chapter: And Gerry Mander as the Speaker.

Another lie exposed.

https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2018/6/26/17505614/tax-postcard-schedules

Republicans have long been obsessed with the dumb promise of letting people file taxes on a postcard, an idea that has no policy merits whatsoever and is also totally unrealistic.

However, rather than admit that this was a silly thing to have run around the country saying, or just quietly drop it, the Trump White House got the Treasury Department to redesign form 1040 so that they can say it fits on a double-sided postcard. Except to shrink the three-page form down to a double-sided postcard, they end up needing to ask Americans to use six supplementary schedules and a few extra forms.

Lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies. I still have to pay to get my taxes done.

Re: 115th Congress the final chapter: And Gerry Mander as the Speaker.

Remember that it was Rep. Deutch who called, in Congressional hearings, for Infowars' ban. Now, another senator is calling for further bans: https://www.infowars.com/dem-senator-demands-more-censorship-of-conservative-media/

These tech giants want to be treated like utilities, and have an effective monopoly. But all of a sudden, when it comes to someone they don't like politically, that all goes out the window.

The stifling of any voice in this country, regardless of whether you agree with it or not, should be of concern. Who is next to go down the memory hole? When they come after you, who will be left to defend you?

Re: 115th Congress the final chapter: And Gerry Mander as the Speaker.

Can't yell fire in a theatre obviously, but he is making somewhat of a point.

If anything good comes out of this you can easily identify the racists by their listening to Illinois Nazis.

So why work to silence them?

Better to be able to keep an eye on them so when the chit hits the fan one knows who to drop first :)
