115th Congress the final chapter: And Gerry Mander as the Speaker.

Well, it wasn't Kelli Ward or Joe Arpaio so props for picking someone who might win in 2020. State law there meant it had to be a Republican.

They could do a lot worse than McSally. Her politics aren't ideal, but since she lost while embracing the Trump platform, look for her to distance herself from it over the next 2 years.

Woulda guessed he was dead if pressed....

Same here.

She appears to be a chameleon that shifts within the bounds of GOP politics. She was anti-Trump during the 2016 primaries, and only publicly shifted towards Trumpster Fire politics after he won the general in 2016. Now she's likely to try to mimic McCain, is my bet. Hopefully, the people of AZ will see through her act.

So she's GOP Hillary.

Re: 115th Congress the final chapter: And Gerry Mander as the Speaker.

The only good thing I will say about Paul Ryan is he knew if he ended up as SOTH he was a dead man walking. That is why he never wanted the job. It is one thing to rail on entitlements as an ordinary grunt in the House waiting for your chance at higher office (and he would have always been a short lister for Executive Stuff) but if you are the face of a party that wants to basically screw over 75% of the population and take away their rights AND money you cant hide it. Rep. Paul Ryan can hide his votes and still claim to be "fiscally responsible" and so on (like most GOPers do) but Speaker Ryan has to answer for all of his votes and the votes of his party. He also has to set the agenda and play the game of "rip the other party in public, negotiate in private". He is too hardcore for that, he cant play the game. He wasnt right for the job and the job wasnt right for his career and here we are.

For all the hate of Pelosi, and I am no big fan of hers by any means, she knows how to play the game. She gets how The House works and she knows how to deal with both parties and their stupidity. She also has the spine to stand up to Trump, the GOP and anyone else who isnt in line.

Re: 115th Congress the final chapter: And Gerry Mander as the Speaker.

I was thinking he'd switch the lobbying side of the equation rather than governing.

Sure. He can lobby corporations to rebuy their stock instead of paying and elevating their workforce.

Re: 115th Congress the final chapter: And Gerry Mander as the Speaker.

Or President if the Democrats win in 2020?

He wont make it out of the Primaries. He is a loser SOTH and was a loser VP candidate that doesnt do anything for him. He is dead...

Re: 115th Congress the final chapter: And Gerry Mander as the Speaker.

AZ Gov decides who better to take McCain's seat than the person the voters just said no to.

It was in the cards from the get-go. That's why she refused to go all vote-fraud, stolen election nutter like the rest of the GOP losers, cause she knew this was waiting for her as the consolation prize.

Re: 115th Congress the final chapter: And Gerry Mander as the Speaker.

Lyin' Ryan is only 48. He'll likely try to run for Senate in 2024.

Hell no. he's done with that crap. He's gonna line his pockets on that sweet DC gravy train. Think tanks, lobbying, whatever can earn him a cheap easy buck without actually having to do any work.

Re: 115th Congress the final chapter: And Gerry Mander as the Speaker.

The only people itching for a Paul Ryan run for President are Beltway Media types and ancient righty pundidiots who refuse to accept that Trump IS the Republican party now (think Bill Kristol). The man couldn't get elected dogcatcher on a statewide or national basis unless he had Chump's enthusiastic backing which I doubt is forthcoming. Time to cash in all those chits he earned with billionaire donors by doing their bidding in the House over the last two decades.

Re: 115th Congress the final chapter: And Gerry Mander as the Speaker.

So McSally loses to Sinema but ends up in the Senate anyway in McCain (unfilled term) seat.

Wow.
