Because she is a Cornellian I like to think she's a liberal on deep background. She takes things Republicans say and then exaggerates them (though to be honest less and less each year) to wake people to the hateful and dangerous repercussions of Republican ideology and provoke an effective counterattack. Her friendship with Bill Maher is my hairline evidence.

But now that Dump is President there's no reason for that. What I want to believe she is doing ironically Dump does unwittingly. Dump is a living, breathing reductio ad absurdum.

You understand millions don't know or understand that. Just because we do and ignore her isn't going to stop her.

And just cause she is a fake doesn't mean her followers are. They believe what she says and agree. To look away and ignore is dangerous.

Basically Scooby is right and you and Kep are wrong. She may be a fraud but her message is all to real to plenty in this country. Ignoring it makes you the problem not Scooby.

...My solution is to throw grit in the gears, slow things down, hold onto one another and keep morale up, make them fight to lower the bar every nanometer. There are plenty of other places to fight the message without rolling around in the mud with the proverbial pig.

I'm not saying don't fight, I'm saying this isn't the battle to be fighting.

Right. If Coulter, or Rush, or Hannity come up in a discussion with my coworkers then I refute them. But I don't bring them up.

And I disagree. Fight the message everywhere. The true believers don't know the difference so neither should we.

Agreed, especially after a close election where the few independent/3rd party votes could've made the difference. When you argue against someone or something you're not necessarily trying to change their mind, you're trying to gain the attention of the few moderates out there who might be lurking and trying to formulate an opinion on a certain issue.

Rather than get stuck to the tar baby, go directly to the moderates and explain why your side is good and the other side is evil.

That is fine to win an election...this is about more than that. Liberals need to fight this racism and hatred all day every day until the day it dies. If you allow it to fester under the guise of "entertainment" all you do is normalize it. History is filled with frauds leading the cause and they are just as dangerous as the true believers.

It isn't enough to ignore...ignoring is just passively allowing it.

Sure but you don't always know who they are obviously. If you do then yeah, obviously go do that. If you're on facebook or a message board or something though it's good to not let those stupid ideas go unchallenged and hope that someone more moderate who is reading is smart enough to take your side over the one that is clearly misinformed and spouting garbage.

Oh, I agree with that on a Forum. I was thinking about the messaging the party uses and the statements public figures make. They shouldn't chase Dump's tail, they should address themselves to moderates and talk about policy. Let the Dumpies eat their own sewage.
