Re: 115th Congress - Still 100% Roy Moore Free

Yes, but any single exemption is up to the whim of congress every day. It’s why I make sure my retirement is diversified between Roth and traditional. Diversify you securities and diversify your tax liabilities.

I didn’t even consider SALT and mortgage deductions when I bought my house. I DID consider them when I refied to a 15-year. I wanted to make sure I could afford it without them.

Yes. If you’re using the interest deduction to afford your house, you couldn’t afford the house to begin with. You should also be smart enough to know that all things are fleeting when it comes to taxes and deductions.

dx is a republican!! Stay in the company town son and pay rent to the master!!! :D

Roy Moore is not conceding.
Roy “back in the saddle” Moore said:
We are indeed in a struggle to preserve our republic, our civilization, and our religion and to set free a suffering humanity.*And the battle rages on.
Hope there are no crazy Alabamians listening to this psycho.

Re: 115th Congress - Still 100% Roy Moore Free

so I was checking out Susan Collins's facebook page. Every post her staffers make is followed up by hundreds of comments from people complaining to her about the tax bill. I think she's under a lot of pressure from her constituents. Will she **** us over? Probably. I hope everyone in Maine remembers this when she's up for reelection.

I wish she'd pull a reverse Richard Shelby and leave the party. it's left "moderates" like her behind. If she stays a Republican, she needs to stop pretending to be a moderate, because there is no such thing as a moderate Republican now.

In the words of the minions of the Trumpster...You lost. Get over it.

Re: 115th Congress - Still 100% Roy Moore Free

Obviously the problem with the SALT deduction isn’t that they reduced it. It’s that they left most of it in place. It’s the most awful of regressive taxes, further penalizing poor rural and inner city people simply for being unable to afford a McMansion.

SALT or mortgage?

The most regressive taxes are still capped social security, sales taxes, and fees.

Perhaps it was a mistake to begin with, but is it fair to take it away from someone who factored in the interest deduction (and property tax deduction) while considering the affordability of their home purchase?

The rule change is for new mortgages only, as it should be. I wouldn’t punish people who had already taken out a mortgage.

And cap gains being a lower rate.

It's the Ancien Regime: the wealthy carve out exemptions, the middle are ground under by tax farming, and the poor are raped by sales taxes. Humanity escaped from this imprisonment by the rich exactly once in its whole history with the social democracies of the middle 20th century. Now the Plutes are walking those back, nightstick in hand.

We have to stop them peacefully while we still have institutions on our side, because if they succeed and the lights go out then it will be done by violence later. And while the Plutes will burn in that fire, too many good people and important things will too.

Tell the Kochs we come unarmed. This time.

You know, it's kind of funny seeing the same butthurt we saw in 2016. Whether Jones is "deep state", or a "rubber stamp", we'll see in the coming months. He'll still be in office barring any sort of extenuating circumstance, and when his term's up, if they don't like him, they can vote him out.
