Re: 115th Congress: On Permanent Vacation

Could someone here describe a conservative Democrat? And a liberal Republican?

Re: 115th Congress: On Permanent Vacation

Actually, liberal republican, if we use the true definition of liberal, would be Donald Trump.

Are you sniffing glue now? There is NOTHING liberal about Donald Trump. Nothing. It's the worst argument you've made and that's near impossible.

Removing regulations isn't promoting liberty? Or is it only liberty if it agrees with you?

Why?

Joe Manchin in West Virginia is a conservative Democrat.
There are no liberal Republicans left in Government.

I think I figured it out. You'd be happy voting for Jacob Javits/Everett Dirksen and I'd be happy voting for Scoop Jackson.

Jon Huntsman used to be is this liberal democrat's idea of what a Republican should be, but I don't think I'd apply the label of moderate to him (but I guess someone that believes in climate change is a liberal Republican) I disagreed with him on plenty, but I could respect him and he seemed like he could be reasoned with and would be willing to compromise. He worked in both the W. Bush and Obama administrations and wrote Obama “You are a remarkable leader – and it has been a great honor getting to know you.” He was too liberal for the GOP presidential primary, and never cracked the low single digits. I haven't been following him, so I don't know if he sold his soul to the devil to be named ambassador to Russia by Trump though...

Re: 115th Congress: On Permanent Vacation

That's exactly what the dems should do but they'll need to follow up by presenting someone credible to fight for it (not just for the presidential election).

Re: 115th Congress: On Permanent Vacation

I'll believe it when I see it.

Same here. The vast majority of Dem Members and high level advisers, not to mention big donors, are members of the plutocracy. Some of the rich really do try to do what's best for the nation -- there are "class traitors" out there. But there have been precious few in positions of authority within the Democratic party since the Clintons turned the party in the Republicans' AAA team on fiscal policy in the early 90s.

Re: 115th Congress: On Permanent Vacation

That is the game they have to play. If the GOP is going to sell out to the 1% then it is the Dems job to win the 99%. If people are still too stupid to see the truth then they dont deserve to have a better life.

Agree completely. Ultimately voters have to take a stand or sit back and watch the theft continue. I for one think people get what they deserve. Goes back to 2000 for me when people voted based on who they'd rather snort coke with (Bush) than a guy with better policies. At this point, Goopers aren't even trying to hide it or snow the public. They've come out and admitted this is all at the behest of their donors, the same people who will give them cushy jobs if/when they're voted out of office.
