115th Congress - Fantastik! Try to remember we vote in November.

And Dump isn't a Republican.

But he's President.

He isn't? Everything he stands for matches the party including the hypocrisy. He is the GOP.

Bernie couldn't be bothered to register as a Dem.

And stop saying the nomination was possibly stolen from him. He lost cause he had no plan and minorities didn't like him. The Clintonistas didn't need to rig it the man couldn't win a primary in a major state.

Re: 115th Congress - Fantastik! Try to remember we vote in November.

Are we going to go with economic messaging this Fall and call BS on The Heist and vow to repeal it? Are we going to speak truth to populism and counter that trade wars weaken economies, while demanding that all trade deals include a hard floor for living wages, worker age protections and right to collectively organize, environmental protections, etc? Are we going to listen to the people who are angry about the last 40 years and stop playing the GOP game and pledge to tear trickle down out by the roots and restore financial regulation, steep progressive taxation, and make education and health care basic rights?

Cuz that's how we win. But to do it we're going to have to be willing to infuriate CNN, the networks, their corporate advertisers, rich donors and a lot of the "Democratic" punditry who are (very well) paid by the Plutes to work the other side of the aisle. Say goodbye to Andrea Mitchell, Paul Begala, Tom Friedman, Chris Matthews, James Carville, Donna Brazile, and Eleanor Clift.

Bernie was right about his analysis of the country's problems and he would have beaten Dump.

The fact that he lost the nomination (or was denied it by the Clintonista apparatchiks in the DNC)

Once she won the nomination I supported her fully, and most of us did.

Somebody want to do a "wellness check" on Kep? :D

You either believe in incrementalism or you don't. If you don't you're going to be disappointed. It took the Republicans 38 years to tear down what FDR built and it's not going to get fixed in one Presidency (Obama's) like all the Susan Sarandon's thought.

Incremental change is accomplished by constant radical pressure. If you start out with mealy mouthed ambitions you will achieve nothing.

A Democrat and a Republican are negotiating over the Democrat's watch. The Democrat wants as much money as possible but is willing to sell for $100. The Republican is willing to buy for $100 but wants to pay as little as possible. For his opening offer, the Democrat says "$100" and the Republican says "$0." They eventually settle for $50.

Repeat for 40 years on education, housing, taxes, social spending, non-military scientific research, infrastructure, and a thousand other needs.

That's how this country was hacked to pieces. To the Dems, "incrementalism" means never ask for too much, you could scare people. To the GOP it means "always demand everything and as soon as you settle re-open negotiations and keeping pushing, pushing, pushing." The Dems try to be fair, the GOP tries to WIN. And so, the GOP wins.

I don't disagree on this point. I've been disappointed on the mealy mouthed BS as well.

Like Kep said Dump wasn't a Republican until he ran as one and became president. The DCCC and friends should probably pull their heads out of their asses if they want to see a blue wave in 2018 and not Dump in 2020.

I'm still not laughing.

Re: 115th Congress - Fantastik! Try to remember we vote in November.

I'm sorry but some of these conclusions are hilarious. For example, the notion that "going big" on social spending would appeal to voters who think a 3 time married old guy having unprotected sex with a porn star while his wife is home with his infant son is bringing God back into this country? People who look at a facebook post ginned up by Russian bots that show refugees leaving Syria and think OMG THAT'S HAPPENING ON THE BORDER WITH MEXICO!!!". People who think the solution to the problem of nutjobs mowing people down with assault rifles is....more assault rifles???

The problem with America over the last 40 or so years is the largest cohort of voters happens to be the whiniest, stupidest, most paranoid and easily fooled generation we've ever seen (roughly the Baby Boom Generation). These people are easily motived to the GOP's message. Short of becoming paranoid racists themselves Dems were always swimming uphill as long as these people voted in the greatest #'s. What you're starting to see is their grip loosen as Gen X + Millennials start voting more but they aren't going to let go very easily.

Gen X and Millennials want larger social spending, **** the baby boomers they’ve ruined the country enough.

Re: 115th Congress - Fantastik! Try to remember we vote in November.

Rover, the Deplorables are lost. We shouldn't address them or even acknowledge their existence.

Your terror about social spending and financial regulation is why I say in an ideal world you would be a Republican. You don't want to actually address the root causes, you just want the comfortable days of Clinton and Obama back where we nibble around the edges. You're OK so, hey, devil take the hindmost.

But that's what got us Dubya and Dump -- the DLC status quo drives this country into the 'Plute ditch, just more slowly than the GOP. We have to change fundamentally, and that means UBI and hedge fund managers swinging from lamp posts. You hate this, we get it. But it's needed and it's coming. There is not a single person in this country under the age of 30 who wants to go your Third Way.

Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway
Don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There's a battle outside
And it is ragin'.
It'll soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin'.

Re: 115th Congress - Fantastik! Try to remember we vote in November.

All of the sudden because Trey Gowdy is crying and saying Congress is broke everyone loves him? Really? Do we not FORGET what he was responsible for while he was in Congress?

Mr. Gowdy. If she's guilty you had her under oath for 10 bleeping hours. You're a prosecutor. Why didn't you get the job done? And if she isn't guilty why the hell did the investigation take so long and stay open? We know it was because you wanted it to club her with while she ran for President.

Sir, you are pure drip slime.

Pretty sure Don Lucia referenced him in his retirement speech lol.

Yeah, I puked when I heard it. I gave Don a pass because his retirement presser and speech other than that were fantastic.

True, I know he was for Romney and a few others but I tried to just pretend it was fake news :(

Re: 115th Congress - Fantastik! Try to remember we vote in November.

Kep, again politicians reflect the whims of the people or they get voted out. Thinking Reagan was some game changer who almost single handedly changed the mindset of America is ridiculous and plays into the hands of the (now ancient) idolmakers who want to make the senile old codger into a saint.

What the GOP as a party tapped into was the paranoia and self absorption of the huge wave of people born roughly right before WWII (the silent generation) to the first half of the post war baby boom. Too young to recall the shared sacrifice of the depression and second world war, they sought out and elected irresponsible politicians because they were that way themselves. Its no coincidence that as more of them started reaching voting age (1968 on) Goopers started winning national elections.

In that context Bill Clinton's two elections coming after 12 years of GOP nonsense dedicated specifically to these whiners was amazing. He basically got the next generation (Gen X) engaged while attracting some of the younger baby boomers. Your apparent notion that he should have used that time to go uber-liberal fails to take the times he lived in into account. In the two preceding elections super libs Mondale and Dukakis won like a dozen states combined in TWO elections. Since then Dems have outvoted GOP in 6 out of 7.

If people thought Bernie was the god that you and trix do, he would be President. Or at least the nominee. Clearly his ideas aren't as popular with the public as they are with you and there's nothing wrong or sinister with that. I just think you're going to be sorely disappointed when a future Dem Prez and Congress doesn't raise tax rates to 90% for anybody making over 100K a year. :D
