10/14-10/15 Wisconsin at Michigan Tech: Foulest Smell? Skunk in Popcorn Box or Ferret

Re: 10/14-10/15 Wisconsin at Michigan Tech: Foulest Smell? Skunk in Popcorn Box or Fe

He's 10. Who bought him these items in the first place? Maybe the blame for this situation is assigned to the wrong person.

I'm with JF_Gophers on this one.

Of course now I must pause for a moment of introspection of my own having just agreed with a gopher fan.

MNS was not invited to this little event. She's a friend from high school that I ran into this summer and have now gone on a couple dates with. She's a tall, leggy, blonde, for what its worth. :)

If you ask nicely and bring some peanut butter, you might even enjoy the evening afterwards. Just don't interrupt her while she's at work :p

She doesn't exist until there is photographic proof.

Oh my. What an end. I can hear the up roar about that ending.... But Rammage was the only one to touch Peterson.

Sucks to lose a hockey game because of incompetent officials.

It really feels good to be on this side of the sour grapes. I even resisted the urge to "fyp" (but I will drop a hint: it wasn't the officials who were incompetent in this loss)

Instead of making an assumptuous statement, please provide the rule and reasoning, given what happened on the play, why there should have been a call of no goal or a penalty.

Fine. I thought it was obvious for anyone who saw it.

Here goes. Pietila hits Ramage (who doesn't have the puck) behind the net into the goaltender, Peterson. It was a blatant goaltender interference.

From the rulebook, "If a defending player has been pushed, shoved, or fouled by an attacking player so as to cause the defending player to come into contact with his own goalkeeper such contact shall be deemed contact initiated by the attacking player for purposes of this rule, and if necessary a penalty assessed to the attacking player and if a goal is scored it would be disallowed."

It's simply inexcusable that the refs let that one go.

Can you please provide the full rule because I would be interested to know if this applies just in the crease or as in this case behind the net and in this case Pietila and Ramage were both going to play the puck when contact was made which happens all the time.

Re: 10/14-10/15 Wisconsin at Michigan Tech: Foulest Smell? Skunk in Popcorn Box or Fe

"so as to cause" means you could call that a penalty if you thought Pietila checked Ramage with the intent of contacting the goalie secondhand. In this case it would have been a terrible call when the puck was right there and the intent of the check was obvious. I've seen the secondhand interference call made when a defenseman is on top of the crease, and is pushed backwards into the goalie to clear a shot from the point, but it has no applicability here.

Ramage didn't have the puck, he was hit into the goaltender, causing obvious goaltender interference. Peterson was knocked to the ice and had no way to defend his net. Doesn't matter if it is in the crease or behind the net.

I'd ask if you want some cheese, but you're from Wisconsin. It would be a **** stupid question.

How about some video evidence instead of this he said/she said?

Didn't you guys start 2 or 3 and O a couple of years ago and finish like 3-38?

Just think, in two seasons, it will be impossible for you to finish 12th in the WCHA! :)

Congrats Michigan Tech on the big win. LSSU and Michigan Tech both 3-0!! Yooper power!!!

Unnecessary - I'll recap the OT for you. One of the bad guys skated into his own goalie, who laid down on his back and waved his pads around like a distressed turtle. Tech scored, the people all rejoiced, and Chuck cried til morning.

Here's the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DMLc7EtkvM&feature=player_embedded

You can decide for yourself. but it's a W for Tech and L for the Badgers. Tech had the upper hand most of the game and deserved the win in the end. Wisconsin did not look good most of the game. 38-24 in shots is not something I've seen in a long time from a tech team vs. another WCHA team. I'm drinking so much Koolaid my tongue is changing colors.
