Re: 0 Days Since Last Shooting: Guns, Guns, And More Guns

So we're going to celebrate the fact that he's a bad shooter with a handgun? YAY! He brought a gun to school, but it was only a handgun and he only shot three times! YAY!
Wasn't the shooting in Maryland a situation where a student went in targeting one specific individual because of possibly some sort of prior relationship, rather than someone just going in to shoot up the school and everyone in it? Might explain the limited casualties.

Re: 0 Days Since Last Shooting: Guns, Guns, And More Guns

Gun free zones are probably safer in general — the purpose is to prevent accidental shootings and to keep confrontations from escalating to shootings. Of course a mass shooting psycho isn’t going to care about laws.

Yes, schools are a target for mass shootings (which is a small part of gun violence). Other than the mass shooting outliers, school shootings down since the rise in “gun free zones”

How the heck are they safer? If you were some assailant that wanted to shoot something up, would you go for the easy defenseless target, or would you take your chances on going after something else, knowing you may end up in a more difficult fight?

Re: 0 Days Since Last Shooting: Guns, Guns, And More Guns

I would point out two things:
The "resource officer" had to shoot the person because he brought a gun to the school in the first place.

The presence of that armed officer did not deter the shooter in any way - he still brought a gun to campus and started shooting people.

When you get to the point of people who don't give a crap and will just go after anything, then you have a real mental health issue. However, the damage was minimal, as the assailant was met with a fight. With that happening, perhaps the copycats will now think twice about going after that sort of place. Although I have a feeling it's going to keep happening for a while in order to provoke 5mn_major's argument until the second is destroyed.

I know you're a stupid bot, but try to pay attention:

more guns around = more likely someone gets shot. the likelihood of someone stopping a mass shooter is very low, because the likelihood of you being a victim of a mass shooting is very low. There is more likely to be an accidental shooting or for a confrontation to escalate to a shooting than there is a mass shooting. If they got rid of gun-free zones, and any student, teacher, or parent starts bringing a gun to school that increases the likelihood that someone will get shot.

And when the deranged man doesn't have access to a gun he still gets met with a fight (in this case backpacks) and no one dies.

Ammosexuals: video games and other forms of media train future mass shooters and should be banned.

YouTube: We're banning videos that train people how to use guns in mass shootings.

Ammosexuals: That's not what we meant!

IALTO.

BTW, has everyone's favorite HALO, Call or Duty, or Unreal Tournament streamer been demonetized yet, on account of this "desensitization" claim?

No because they were demonetized last year during the Adpocalypse. Most streamers moved to Twitch. It's a friendlier platform for streamers.

Re: 0 Days Since Last Shooting: Guns, Guns, And More Guns

Sadly the comments I read online for articles reporting on the marches give me zero hope for any change, at least where I live.

My reaction is thus: It is a very odd sort of patriot that would destroy the First Amendment to protect the Second

And that comic was made six years ago.

Lets be realistic- they want to eliminate all of the amendments and most of the Constitution too keep their guns. We can't have reasonable limitations just like every other Amendment has. All for money to the gun makers, yay.

Re: 0 Days Since Last Shooting: Guns, Guns, And More Guns

Paul McCartney attended an anti-gun violence rally in New York City and remembered his friend and former bandmate John Lennon. A CNN reporter asked McCartney if he thinks changed can be accomplished with legislation.

"I'm like everyone -- I don't know, but this is what we can do, so I'm here to do it," McCartney said Saturday, while wearing a shirt that read: "We can end gun violence."

"One of my best friends was killed in gun violence right around here, so it's important to me," McCartney said.

Paul with a mic drop...

Worst comment I’ve seen: “If these kids want to march, they should join the military and march!”

Why would they want 18yos in the military? I've heard they're stupid and dumb and can't do anything right or be trusted.

Don't forget, there is at least a decent chance some (or more than some) of those comments are made by bots. I am on a mission to convince people to stop reading comments on news articles entirely. Please join me in doing so. The odds the comments add anything to your understanding of whatever the issue the article is covering are slim, at best. You clicked on the headline to read the article, not the comments.

Funniest sign I saw from today...

“When I said I’d rather die than go to math class? That was hyperbole, *******.”

Spend all their time looking at their phones. Also, shouldn't be trusted, you know, like on issues of political importance, cause what do they know, they're just kids.
