So this shooting happened in Texas, a state with some of the loosest gun laws in the country. It happened despite there being armed security on campus to prevent it.

I hear ya. I thought all those gun totin' real Americans down there are packing all the time for the very reason of preventing something like this from happening? Isn't this the 2nd deadly mass shooting in the last 2 years down there?

Texas senator: "Our hearts go out to those who are affected by this terrible tragedy"

Texas Sen. John Cornyn said he's offered his assistance and plans to visit Santa Fe High School this afternoon following the fatal shooting.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those injured and killed at Santa Fe School District right outside of Galveston," he said.
Cornyn continued: "We all are standing by again and our hearts go out to those who are affected by this terrible tragedy.”

The Democratic mayor of Dallas has strong words in the wake of the shooting at a high school outside Houston.
