The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways.
Please note that you can switch between light and dark modes by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right of the main menu bar.
We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.
My issue with football is that there is no revenue stream playing FCS football. They are probably averaging 3K paying fans per game and the media deals are miniscule. Add to that they struggle to reach .500....even in a watered down league. Just seems like a never ending cycle of burning...
Interesting that the Maine WBB team turned down an auto invite to the WNIT. I wonder why? Is UMaine that hard up financially? 3 other AE teams accepted invites.
I was just going to post something to this effect. The macro season result....not totally unexpected......the micro results from game to game is where the real issues are.
Maine needs better funding to buy players.....but there also needs to be some adjustments by the coaching staff to figure...
He doesn't get "bonus points" for winning a HE Championship in 2025 after a season like this. If this program is spinning its wheels or *gulp*....it gets worse in 2026-2027......then we will all have questions for Ben Barr on why that is.
Next season is where the rubber meets the road for Ben Barr. I think that we see many changes next season because whatever was done this season.......did not work.
Definitely should have been a comfortable double digit win.....the missed bunnies combined with Pucci from Bing firing 3s made it much closer than it should have been. It was loud and packed at the Pit.....impressive showing by Maine fans!
The other thing we've witnessed multiple times this season is a losing a lead late and ultimately losing the game because they can't clear their zone.....and then the goaltending fails to make the big save.
Maine found a way to fund $200+ million for athletic facilities....certainly they can find $1 million annually to acquire hockey players....no? Not saying that the Alfond Foundation or 3 surviving Alfond children owe UMaine anything.....but Harold Alfond's name is plastered all over campus...
Goaltending should be priority #1 for next season. Get one of the Alfonds on the horn and beg them to buy a goaltender in the portal.....it'll only cost them about 1 day of interest on their holdings.
Definitely need to get rid of a few players.....and Barr & Co. need to take a look in the...
Maine WBB is a machine.....9th straight year in the semis. Lala Woods is a baller....fun to watch and root for. Binghamton on Monday will be tough....there is bad blood between the teams as well.....should be a barn burner.
Yeah getting to the Garden is not exactly a gauntlet. I'll take BC as well.....I think that Maine matches up best with them. Would be sweet to win in Chestnut Hill and knock the Eagles out of the NCAAs too.
