RPI 2026 Off-Season: Please Pardon Our Appearance As We Upgrade This Area

Glad to hear that the soon to be announced Dr. Demento NIL program is paying off. Doesn't the good doc have a background in cosmetic surgery? Since we didn't opt in the money can only come from outside sources for services rendered. I can see the ads now:

"Got an ugly stitch mark from a hockey injury? The Dr. Demento team will have your face as smooth as a baby's butt in no time."
Never really got very involved with repairing sports injuries but came really close a few times. Closest was when Larry Holmes (at the time heavyweight champion) was flying back from Florida to Newark and ended up sitting with me and Jen in first class on an Eastern Airlines flight (as I mentioned it was a long time ago). We got to talking and when he found out I was a cosmetic surgeon and located not far from his Easton Pa. home base, asked if i wanted to come work for him as his cut repair man. At the time he did not have much to fix other than a scar from a Bonecrusher Smith head butt that was simply not sewn well. We were going to drive out to see him at his hotel and nightclub (the Knockout and the Round One) after his next fight but things got delayed after he beat Michael Spinks and other fights were quickly scheduled. Talked a few times after but never got together on it.
Repaired lots of hockey cuts at the local high school level here in NJ but by that time we did everything gratis and was happy just to help.

I assume that you mean this.

We actually have 9 incoming frosh.
Any idea whose missing?

Nevermind. Looks like it’s the goalie. Don’t believe they include goalies in their rankings. Either way pretty impressive to have the top incoming freshman. Bodes well for the immediate and future.
Yes. However there are 14 schools in other leagues with higher totals.

I wonder where Neutral Zone will rank us when they get all the teams correctly. We are currently #29, but many of the other schools have inflated lists.

That would be a strange practice since a strong freshman goalie can have a bigger impact on a team than virtually any other first year player.

RPI posted the achievement including McCallum at the front center.

I wasn't sure what to think when I saw the picture and read it as "ASS RANKING," but I guess there's a "CL" that didn't make it inside the left margin. :)

very impressive for coach lang. This is his first real recruiting class and he’s #1 in puck preps. Very impressive

In honor of Alfred Lindberg, today is 9 July 2026. There are 86 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 3 October 2026 for the start of next season.

Maybe they regard it to be difficult to rate goalies on the same scale as skaters.
That’s certainly a problem. Evaluating classes using total points/stars or averages implies that a 4 star at one position is equivalent to a 4 star at another. Unless they want to weight positions that’s unavoidable. However, they are already engaged in so much subjectivity and implied weighting even at the same position (e.g. how do I compare a large, stay at home defensive stalwart with a smaller, mobile puck-mover that may have some short-comings in his own end) that entirely leaving out the most important position on the ice in determining “best class” would be a little ridiculous.

I've always tended to think NZ does better ratings than PuckPreps for many reasons. However, I'll take the good press and PR from this, and I'm glad they've already started marketing it a ton

Totally agree Sez....that we're headed in the right direction with recruiting is a huge sign of progress...and worthy of promotion !

NZ does better, but they haven't updated everyone yet. We have the correct 9 players, but most other schools don't. We currently sit 5th in the ECAC to Quinnipiac, Clarkson, Harvard, and Cornell and 29th overall. We are going to improve, but I don't know how much.

How has RPI marketed it besides for an Instagram post?

Eventually, NZ ends up having the updated classes for all the schools though. For marketing, I've also received at least one email touting it. I think it was in a golf outing promotion email.
