MLB 2025: The Dodgers vs The Field

Was at the Red Sox game last night. They played Pittsburgh and Paul Skenes was pitching. The Red Sox called up a 22-year old rookie, Payton Tolle to pitch. He looks like a young Ron Swanson. Mowed down the side in the first, struck out eight. Top of the 6th, Red Sox up, 2-0, he started to falter/tire a bit, left two men on base. Cora took him out, which was the right thing IMO. Only gave up three hits. Left to an immense and well-deserved standing ovation.

Middle reliever comes in, gives up a hit to the next batter, game tied. Gives up another hit, the Pirates take the league. What a way to absolutely destroy a fantastic performance by this kid. The Sox gave up another run, lost 4-2. Could have gained a game on Toronto, who lost, and lost ground against the Yankees, who won. Talk about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

The video of them letting Tolle know he was getting called up randomly showed up on my Instagram feed.
I don't care about the Red Sox and had never heard of the kid but those videos are cool.
Glad he did well and got to do it against Skenes

I don't know who needs to hear this, but every home run ball is more or less captured on TV now, so if you act like a jerk when retrieving and/or arguing over a home run ball, the footage will find its way across the country and you will become a public laughingstock.

Detroit and Toronto have been in a heated battle giving first place in the AL back and forth. Both are playing <.500 ball the last couple weeks and have been within 1.5 games the entire time.

*Looks at Mariners allowing KC, Cleveland, and Texas back into the Wild Card race*

Yeah, interesting.

We might need to investigate the Etsy witches.

There’s the “Jezebel hired a witch to curse Charlie Kirk” story but now it’s also come out that someone hired an Etsy witch to “Unfuck the Mariners” and now the Mariners have five straight and lead their division.

Link to story.

Was at the abomination of a game at Fenway tonight. The Red Sox were being no hit and playing like crap. I wanted to leave but part of me was thinking how cool it would be to see a no hitter. The Sox’s first hit was a home run so they weren’t going to be no hit or shut out. But had the conversation with my brother - would you rather have your team be no hit or just get one or two hits. At least if your team is on the losing end of a no hitter, you’ve seen a piece of history.
