Dump Term 2, Part 2: "A third term would be a big shattering."

If there is a civil war in the US it will not be armies, it will be white nationalist guerillas striking schools and hospitals and soft targets because they are cowards. If there is formal political cover from an elected rightwing government it will be looking the other way, hamstringing law enforcement and justice department investigations, and false equivalency by declaring the SPLC and ACLU "terrorists."

It will be just like now: everybody with a brain knowing the right is lying, with only a minority of morons believing what they hear on Fox, but us powerless to penetrate that dumb, smug, imbecilic grin of impish malevolence as they perpetrate real crimes against people while playing it off as a joke. Their death caps will be festooned with memes.

I dont think they want to...I think they will if put in the position. Americans are no different than anyone else and neither are the high ranking ones. People are people, and they will justify horrid things in their mind because they were ordered to do so.

You guys sound like the people who still believe there are Republicans of Conscious out there that are willing to stand up if push comes to shove. People are easily corrupted and power is the easiest way to do it.

Let me ask you this...what rank did Michael Flynn have again? (and I believe his pr!ck brother still is ranked) How educated was Colin Powell when he knowingly went in front of Congress and lied? When McCrystal was banging the journalist and gave away secrets...what was his position in the military? How about Westmorland? Just because people hold rank and got a top notch education or decades of experience, does not make them less susceptible to being full on evil MFers. And it only takes one in the right place at the wrong time.

It’ll be right wing militias versus leftist “stay the fuck out of our neighborhood” militias (think CHAZ but with guns). Plus some Weather Underground types randomly hitting targets.

Also, Hot Lips won't. All her bigoted upbringing will tell her to, which is why she's a Dump voter, but her pride be mortally offended that her professional integrity is prostituted in an illegitimated way.

If I'm Dump, I'm not worried about loud, smart-ass do-nothings like Hawkeye. I'm worried about Margaret and Potter. They can shut me down in the last three feet.

Every Democrat under 40 wants to kick over the table. That is where to start.

Absolutely nothing stops any Democrat from standing up and saying my plan is everyone with incomes in the bottom 80% has their taxes cut in half while everyone with incomes in the top 10% has their taxes doubled.

Permanent majority.

Really makes you think why they haven't done that the last 50 years. It's almost as if the power brokers in the Democratic party come from the same class as the GOP's, and scream about social issues 24/7 to distract from them doing nothing on fiscal and monetary.
 
A group with the fundraising ability and media savvy, like The Lincoln Project, should start putting out a series of ads aimed at our armed forces and veterans. The ads should focus on the fact that they have an oath to the US Constitution, not a man or office, without naming any orange puppets, and the ads should run on all the GOP media outlets willing to put their ads on air or sites willing to give them space. It may not sink in with all of them, but we have to try for some of the soldiers and marines who might be on the bubble in such situations.
 
I have to hand it to Trump...he and his cronies are going to full on backdoor Israel negotiating with Hamas (just like Yemen and now possibly Iran) and just might get a deal out of it. His corruptibility is actually a strength and having his people (a Jew no less) go on CNN and say "we are the United States we are not beholden to Israel" is a massive middle finger to Bibi and exactly the thing Hamas wants to hear.

No Democrat would ever say that because they are spineless...but Trump doesn't care and he doesn't really care about Israel anyways. His loyalty goes to the highest bidder. Maybe the Palestinians were right...

(not here obviously they have no rights here)

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexico’s security chief confirmed Tuesday that 17 family members of cartel leaders crossed into the U.S. last week as part of a deal between a son of the former head of the Sinaloa Cartel and the Trump administration.

Mexican Security Secretary Omar García Harfuch confirmed a report by independent journalist Luis Chaparro that family members of Ovidio Guzman Lopez, who was extradited to the United States in 2023, had entered the U.S.

Guzmán Lopez is one of the brothers left running a faction of the Sinaloa Cartel after notorious capo Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán was imprisoned in the U.S. Video showed the family members walking across the border from Tijuana with their suitcases to waiting U.S. agents.

Rumors had circulated last week that the younger Guzmán would plead guilty to avoid trial for several drug trafficking charges in the U.S. after being extradited in 2023.

Right, and like what do you do with garrisons of troops that have an extremely good relationship with their governor? Like, oh, I don’t know, Minnesota.

The entire command structure would probably break down in a matter of months at most. Those that will fire on Americans and those that won’t. What’s going to happen when PFC Pyle has his aunt shot by GI Joe? Or half his family is starving because the supply chain has been obliterated?

This isn’t as straightforward as handy makes it out to be. There are complex relationships (whether adversarial or friendly) and even if Trump fires all the generals, he won’t be able to replace all the command structure to the company level. You needn’t look much further than Vietnam for what happens when soldiers don’t want to put themselves in danger any longer. Grenades start getting rolled into foxholes. COs start to wind up in ditches.

Again, whatever we think is going to happen is wrong. It’s going to be messier and more fractured than we can imagine.
