Awesome opening Weekend

What a season debut for D3 college hockey tonight!

Utica and Norwich win in OT in top-10 ranked matchups.

Oswego spoils SNC’s new barn debut in top 15 matchup.

Stevens Point upsets Aurora and Geneseo takes down Stout in another top 10 showdown.

couldn’t have dreamt up a better debut.

Welcome back D-III hockey, we’ve missed you.

Great to see that the St. Norbert stream isn’t from a TI-84 calculator anymore. Not great to see the home opener in a new rink was maybe 50% full though.

Great day for the east. We’ll see tomorrow.

Gotta think Friday night lights high school football impacts their early season attendance. Also lot of Halloween Eve trick or treating and events I’m sure.

Norwich’s crowd was no where near what it was the Dartmouth exhibition.

In Vermont, its high school state championship weekend for soccer, field hockey and volleyball as well as state quarterfinal weekend for football.

1400 has to be the biggest regular season crowd for SNC in a very long time. I'm not sure they even drew that many fans for the NCAA tourney game they hosted in March. The new rink is great but they should have made the capacity somewhere in the 1000-1500 range with some SRO.

I could be wrong, but I think the only difference on the broadcast is that they are able to use a tripod. The press box in the old rink practically hung out over the ice so the angle made a tripod impossible to use. Makes a big difference though.

It was great to see Utica win yet-another October championship this season! Undefeated again (even if they did blow a 4 goal third period lead, while also managing to be out-shot 47-20.)

Are Utica fans celebrating in the streets or something?

You have enough of your own to worry about.

Yeah, you guys do a lot of celebrating every October... whoops, looks like the calendar just changed over to November again. Damn, it was fun while it lasted!
No we don’t, keep coping though,

Keep in mind the last time Utica beat Adrian in their opener, they ended up dog walking St Norbert in the tourny.

Looked more like Adrian's starting goalie had an issue that game more than anything.

If winning by a goal after trailing by one going into the third period is "walking someone's dog" how would you describe what Stout did to Utica in last season's tourney?

There's no way you're still this mad over a game almost 2 years ago

I'm sorry Utica lives rent free in your head, good split this weekend at home against a lower ranked team though, things are looking up!!

Biggest crowd at a regular season home game since 1/3/2015 (the infamous "net game" against Stevens Point). Highest attendance at any home game (including postseason) since 3/9/2019 (OT win against Augsburg opening round of NCAA tourney).

As for Oswego I'll take the split on the weekend, looooong trip and we looked pretty damn good, hope to follow up with a win vs.a very good Genny team this Friday...
