Wisconsin Women's Hockey 2026-27

If there's good news coming out of this jumbled-up mess of a season - unless UW miraculously salvages another Natty - is that MJ won't go out on this kind of a low note.
IT'S OCTOBER!!!

You remember that Wisconsin went into last year's NCAAs as the #2 seed, right? In 2023, they were the #6 seed; in 2021, they were the #2.

Good Lord!! It's OCTOBER!

She would miss St. Cloud along with McNaughton and possibly Potter... they would not return before heading to Worlds

The good thing is tremblay will get some confidence and experience and will come back stronger! Canada needs youth so I am so happy she won’t not only make the team but get some heavy minutes and PP time.

RT is on the top line again today! Venusio is playing as the extra D (14th player). Amos has been demoted and is again on the 4th line.

What can you tell us about Murphy?

Between injuries, illnesses, and absences that will continue into mid-January, continuity, let alone team chemistry, will be hard to develop. These national and international federations should wake up to the fact that universities have made commitments to these players and vice-versa, whereas they put their mercenary armies together one tournament at a time.

The games that matter the most aren't until March.

It's great having a roster with several kids that are talented enough to represent their country on the international stage. Far better than the alternative.

There is also the generally overlooked aspect which is that these women are in college and are supposed to be allowed to get an education. Representing their country on the international stage is fine for women who play hockey for a living.

I'm with you on this one. I don't care if they represent their country or not, they just need to make their team at Wisconsin, win, win and win more. I also agree they're there for an education. Not all your classes or class lessons can be done virtually or online at a later date, yet in the the semester window. I don't think any other sport has these same challenges as these women hockey players do.

A big third gets the BADgers out of the basement. For now.

Venusio sure was pizzed at somebody, she dumped a Kato player and took a penalty late in the 3rd. Then afterwards she was yelling and chirping at the Kato people. I don't like that the refs let the physical banging along the boards go.

Tremblay didn't have a lot of jump today, perhaps she was having camp lag. She was deadly at the faceoff dot though.

I was at UW volleyball until that was almost over, so I hustled over to LaBahn, got there with about eight minutes to play, and noticed right away that things were pretty chippy. As for Venusio, maybe a minute or twoprior to the penalty, she went down behind the play, sliding across the ice and into the boards, Got up rather slowly and then hurried down the ice to pick up that penalty. I didn't see what sent her to the ice, but made a mental note to check if whatever it was shown on the BTN replay. Haven't looked yet.

------------
At about 4:45 to play and just as the camera swings away, some Mankato player takes out Venusio's legs. Not necessarily intentional, but that's what sent her sliding away. A half-minute later, she takes the penalty.

What education are they really there for? What challenges does women hockey have?

None of these players players going to these national camps are going to make life-changing money playing hockey (at this point anyway), so getting that education is an important thing for them.

The challenge is I was referring to are the challenges created by this missing school by going to these camps and playing these tournaments. That doesn't happen in other sports.

Needs to learn how to get even and not let emotions take control.
