2026 Elections: To the Midterms and Beyond!

Doing all the conversions, we paid around $5.10 US for a gallon of gas in Saskatchewan/Manitoba this weekend. I didn't even look at the diesel price.

Here in West Central Minnesota, we are paying $4.19 for gas and around $6.30 for diesel. Gas has held pretty steady, diesel has been bouncing around.

$4.99-$5.09 for Regular here where I am in Idaho (85 octane). Of course, my truck needs 87 mid-grade which is running $5.30-$5.40 (rewards points from the grocery usually bring it down to $4.50-$4.70). Panhandle area is slightly lower for regular at around $4.80. Diesel is about $6.50-$6.70 here and as low as $5.89 up in the panhandle. While I am not happy about it of course, I do get a good chuckle when the red hats around here complain...welcome to the consequences of your vote.

Can’t speak for any other state, but they are clearly scared up here in Alaska. They are running anything and everything at this point trying to get something to stick on Peltola.

The latest Sullivan ad is a response to the fact that Sullivan made illegal stock trades and made millions. The ad features Sullivan’s wife tearfully explaining that Dan inherited those stocks from his family and how dare Mary smear the memory of her in-laws!
 
Talking to a local person running for office in Maine. They just got a report on Absentee ballots. So far around 50k taken out, 35k by Dems, 19k by unenrolled, 4k by Repubs.

Geez why do the vote totals favor Democrats when they start counting the absentee ballots?

Of course, but historically in Maine, if around 70% of the absentee ballots were requested by Democrats and only 8% by Republicans, then this is the same old story. If the historical split has been something closer to 50% democrats and 30% republicans requesting absentee ballots in previous elections, then maybe we’re onto something here.
