So, here's kind of a weird one. The woman who is the head of our team that used to be my direct manager and is now my manager's manager, she and I are actually friends. We've known each other for a long time. She had reached out to me a while back about gauging my interest in going to the Olympics in LA in 2028. We had seriously looked into going to both Tokyo and Paris but didn't. So, I registered for the ticket lottery and can buy, or try to buy, tickets this Sunday. We talked about in the office today. Then she had to jump on a call with my direct manager right after we chatted. They are very close.
Twenty minutes later I get an IM from her - my direct manager wants to join us. So maybe try to get three tickets to events? Like, does my manager know it's going to be at least a week? She has two kids. Will she actually go? If the process is I actually will be buying and paying, she will be paying me because I'm not going to be on the hook for Olympics tickets and then she says Oh, I can't go, that's when I go on family vacation. Or something, How do I respond? Ticket window opens Sunday. I've traveled with the woman who is my manager's manager before. We get along well. I really like my direct manager but to vacation with her? I don't know. And if she comes, I could wind up being a third wheel with the two of them. I will definitely wind up being a chauffeur. Which, fine. But that makes hotels harder, Now we would need two rooms. That stuff we have time to deal with. And who knows if we will all be working with each other at that point. But still....what do I do?
