NCAA Hockey 2025- CHA now welcome

I'm not a big BYU fan, but they would be hurt by this if any player decides to go on a mission during college. They would basically not be allowed to go and come back to play- since they would age out before eligibility would. So for anyone crying over attack on Christianity- that would be pretty easy for schools that send people on missions.

The Thumpers will squeal and get a carve out. The politicians will wet themselves scrambling to posture for invisible sky daddy. Those fuckers get a tax exemption. Think anybody has the nuts to draw the line at an extra year of eligibility?

Sounds like this eventually winds up with a Players Association of professional athletes whose paid work is in college, either as an extension of the major leagues or its own thing. Which frankly is the right thing to do. Collective bargaining contracts, salary, benefits, incentives, rights, responsibilities, and strikes. The schools wanted this license to print money? Okay, they're owners.

Fuck the owners.
Yes, this is all going in the direction of a players' union and a CBA, mainly because I don't see any other way the NCAA can get agreement on rules and stop losing lawsuits.

And it's a HUGE union. According to the googie ai agent, in D1, it's close to 200k athletes. All of which can get benefits.
And the lawyers that put it together are going to each buy a yacht and/or private jet.

Following the trend of ECHL players retaining eligibility as long as their comp doesn't exceed the NCAA equivalent, Tech just landed a transfer commitment from Connor Roulette of the U of Saskatchewan. He will likely enter as a junior with 2 years of eligibility left, losing 1 for his year in the Coast, and 1 for his year in USports. This is the kind of stuff the NCAA will ultimately need a CBA to properly codify and legally enforce.

A classic Big 10 match between the Badgers and Wolverines would be better for the men of Bristol than a bottle of Viagra and a plate of raw oysters.

Maybe for the two people, but not for ESPN- the last thing they need is another B1G champion. That's a different channel.
It's still the Big 10. Disney prefers working with Big Brands than no-names. 95% of ESPN viewers have no clue what the NCHC is and would be confused if they tuned in to a Denver game and didn't see the Broncos.

I don't think they really care about hockey ratings. They show this because they have been forced to.

Not that I have a dog in the hunt, but DU having 5 PPs to 2 despite the puck being far more often in their end was absurd. There was a play at the wall where a DU player tackled a UMi player, and then did it again as he was trying to get up.

While it seemed that we dominated the play, the reality is that Denver made us play in a way that made it a lot easier to defend and stop shots. And they have to be given a lot of credit for that. We barely were able to carry the puck over the blue line, mostly dumping it in and trying to get it. Wash, repeat. The whole OT was that with an occasional decent shot. Denver just waited for their mistake chance, and it took a few of them, but they buried it- just like the first goal that was another Michigan mistake.

Sucks that we lost, again. But dang, that DU team is really good.

Carle's run with Denver is something to behold.

2019: Lost in Frozen Four
2020: Season canceled
2021: Missed tournament in modified season
2022: National champion
2023: Lost first round
2024: National champion
2025: Lost in Frozen Four
2026: At least runner up

8 seasons, 5 Frozen Fours, 3 championship game appearances.

If they win tomorrow, we can assume they would've won in 2020, and then say it's open to the field next year.
