Utica University 2025-26 - The Road (back) To Utica

I haven't bothered to read "his" comments, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was just another pathetic iteration of little nubby.
Right. Because I would know all about Utica players who were too smashed to play. Then again I know you work at Lowe's so maybe you're right...

Not at all. It was too detailed to be nubby. Whether true or not, it seemed to be someone who had a closer "knowledge" of stuff going on. Even nubby couldn't make up detailed lies like that, if it's not true.

You read 'em...

and what's with the quotes?
I didn't. I don't bother with this site much anymore. I've already experienced elementary school playgrounds.

Something tells me that I wouldn't have been interested in the first place, anyway, if it resembled nubby's drivel. (See the above.)

Utica just played a nearly perfect game against a very good team. All the new parts seem to have fallen into place, at last.

Watch out for them going forward.

No one is overlooking Utica. Promise you that. They also get to play the FF “at home” if they can win one or two NCAA Tourney games.

True enough, and certainly an unfair advantage.

Still, that seems like a little bit of retribution, when one considers how frequently Utica (and the rest of the old ECAC West) was regularly screwed by the old SMF bullshit, time and time again.

At the end of the day, Beaver is going to win it anyway. And I won't complain.

Congrats to Utica on an impressive win. Look forward to the possibility of another intense game at the Aud when it counts. Beaver was awesome tonight and held off a determined Laker team.

Not sure what SMF means (smoke filled room?) but you remember the Pool B berths, right? That was a bid reserved for conferences without an auto bid, and for a period of time it was basically the ECAC-W's de-facto autobid.

I remember a couple different seasons when the ECAC-W placed 3 teams in the tournament despite the lack of a Pool A.

Yet you come back and post over and over again because your latent narcissism does not permit you to do otherwise.

And, at least once, the SFR pitted them against each other in the 1st round. Recall that?

OK, do any Utica fans care to write a requiem regarding this season? (Trolls need not apply).

My take:

UU added a bunch of players this year, and some of them were quite good. Thing is, the team took too long to gel, IMO. Not sure that it ever really did.

Utica couldn't beat good teams. When they scored, the 'tending looked shaky, and when they struggled to score, the 'tending didn't help much. Curtain (.905 on the season) wasn't bad, but opposing goalies looked like Patrick Roy and Dom Hasek rolled into one when they faced UU. (Monaco last night being a prime example.)

This isn't sour grapes, but the officiating last night was abysmal, even by D-3's lowly standards. Might have been the most hapless crew I've ever seen during my 26 years of watching D-3 refs fuck things up, and I've seen plenty of D-3 refs fuck things up. (I mean, 2 minutes for a face-off violation? That's a first for me.)

I'm hoping a couple of you guys will weigh in. I could use some help processing my disappointment. ;)

Question for the Utica fans, how did the attendance for last years final reach 2600 at Nexus, when it says the capacity is 1200….. were there 1400 standing room tickets sold ?I’d believe it based on 4-5 deep around the rink. I see the Aud holds 4000 , how many of those were already sold to Utica fans? I’m wondering how full it will be with the current FF composition.
I was really hoping for a rematch, just surprised with result. Is Stout that good to be the streak breaker?

My understanding is that fans were 7 deep in the standing area. Many of us with season tickets were unable to get tickets.

I feel like it took awhile for the team to gel. That being said, they went further than I expected after seeing the first 4 or 5 games. I thought the embellishment call against Utica was ridiculous. Coach Heenan mentioned that the player required stiches as a result of the exchange. I'm encouraged that the majority of the team next year will be a well tested collection of players, many of whom have been very good.

Yes, it was a zoo. There will be plenty of tickets available this weekend. There will be some local interest in Hamilton. But generally speaking none of the final 4 teams are known to travel well.

My assessment is similar on the season as a whole. I won’t sit here and blame the game on the refs, but they let it get out of control. Missing a very clear trip, and then scrambling for a makeup call on the faceoff violation shortly thereafter was embarassing. And the embellishment call was horrendus.

Only lose 3 to graduation, but 3 big pairs of shoes to fill.
