HOBART HOCKEY 2025-2026 REIGNING THREE -PEAT D3 HOCKEY CHAMPIONS

Most successful programs have had the existence of a winning culture cultivated over time that includes academic achievement, community involvement, and athletic success. Hobarts recent success is based on nothing more than a financial investment in better players. Facilities, academics, and coaching staff have all remained the same. As long as they continue to invest in their players, everyone else is playing for second place.
This is nonsense. They haven't missed a NCAA tournament since 2015. I am sure the financial packages help, but they aren't building all star teams with the best players available. Go through their roster and look at the players junior resumes, nothing eye popping. They simply play their system very well and all buy in to what Taylor is selling.

Thank you JSlicedog for your input. Not sure what is motivating this "member". I can tell you that recruiting good players and teaching them the system , as well as dedicating themselves to fitness so they can outlast everyone in the third period or overtime are the keys. I've seen quite a few opponents falter at the end of games when the Statesmen keep the petal to the metal due to their fitness levels.
SK8, last year our hockey team had one of the highest GPAs of any sports team on campus, their community involvement is exceptional and Coach Taylor has always focused on developing men that are team players that happen to play great winning hockey, so excuse me, but you have no clue what Hobart Hockey is all about.

I believe he was referring to financial investment in all ways by the instituition, and not payments to players specifically. Hobart currently has the resources for exceptional fin. aid, which allows them to get athletes in for a lower total investment that many other schools (other than NESCAC- if they wanted to fully invest in athletics, you could skip holding a national tournament).

Amazes me how touchy everyone gets on the subject of NIL, Financial Aid, and winning/losing. Truth be told, just because some schools have advantages over others doesn't mean they are "cheating" to win. They are playing within the guidelines set forth by the institution, as is their choice. This shouldnt be "news" to anyone paying attention. Going forward, I can only see the gap getting worse as it is in D1, unless decisions are reversed or economics force a change.

We get a great matchup as St.Norbert comes to town next Saturday. Fantastic game between two of the top programs. Hobart is going to have to earn it!

I hope I'm wrong, but I'm predicting a repeat of the 2019 quarterfinal game against undefeated Stevens Point. But anything can happen 🤞

I was there. This Hobart team is better, and those Pointers were tough. Our goalies(either one) and defense will not give up 5 goals like UNE did. last night. The Green Knight defenders will also be challenged .

I was referring to the game where Point beat SNC 3-0.

This SNC team is better than the '19 team IMO... and playing their best hockey at the right time. Hobart would have to be considered the favorite, but I foresee a low scoring game that will come down to the final minutes. Should be great hockey!
I'm just trying to enjoy the win and not get my hopes up too much. But of course they have a chance! All winning streaks have to end eventually 🙏

Enjoy your win over UNE, but be prepared for the maelstrom generated by the Statesmen this Saturday.;)
Honestly anything beyond an NCAA tournament win on home ice is a bonus! I am getting sick of the quarterfinal losses (four consecutive for SNC), but it is a good problem to have.

The third period is going to be the key. As Bartman keeps reminding us, Hobart never relents, and therefore they tend to wear opponents out in the final period. Coughlin is a smart coach as is Taylor. Both will come in with great game plans. I'll be surprised if it's not close going into the third period ... and then ...

As a Packers fan, I've seen this first hand as Coughlin's Giants knocked the Packers out of the playoffs twice, going on to win the Super Bowl both years. But he retired 10 years ago and won't be coaching this Saturday :)

As a Giants fan, I was there for the Giants win in Green Bay in 2008. The Packer fans were cussing the season ticket holder in abstentia that had scalped the tickets that we sat in. I was very impressed with the Packer fans except for their long stares at my son in his Manning jersey. after each Giant score. I told my son to be very quiet as we exited the stadium which was as quiet as a church after the game. Tom Coughlin was a great coach and a legend from Western New York (more like Green Bay than NYC, for sure) . The best part of that season was ending the perfect Patriots season in the SB. OH, don't get any ideas from that streak ender example.

Super Bowl 42 is the reason i am a NYG fan today. I remember my 1st grade teacher was a pats fan and kept telling all about the pats undefeated season and how they were gonna destroy the giants. We did a class poll and I was the only kid who picked the giants. My only logic as a 6 year old was my dad was a rangers fan and u should never cheer against a red white and blue new york team. Safe to say that worked, especially since my dad is a jets fans so i saved myself from that life of misery.

Did you know that Tom Coughlin was once the head football coach at RIT? Yes, RIT once had a football team.

Ergo -- once again! -- it's all RIT's fault.

I now like your dad more than I like you. :)
