The 2024 GQP Thread: Because Deutsche Gopher Fan ENDED the Last One

The dirtiest meat in the supermarket!

Funny and definitely something stupid enough that MAGAt men would fall for it. But it also feels like an anecdotal lefty meme to me, like the bleach injection/drinking thing.

I want to create an AI image. Too stupid to understand the song, it would have an ICE agent watching a packet of cigarettes and trying to smoke Cpt. Kangaroo on his TV through some sort of bong. The caption would be, of course, “Don’t Tell Me I’ve Nothing to Do.”

I had no idea that One Week was so controversial. Mb.
For about 1 year in college I could not escape that song...it is forever tainted. (see also: Any song by Cake, Eagle Eye Cherry, Train and especially Minnesota's Own Marcy's Playground)

Reminds me of my wife's disdain for Mark McGrath. She was working security for concerts on campus during college. When Sugar Ray came to town, campus security was told there was one band who would go into the crowd, and that was it. My wife was posted up along side the stage near some stairs, gets a tap on the shoulder, and the lead singer of the cover band is trying to get by her to go into the crowd. That's it, the kids running security were told, for bands going into the crowd.

Mark McGrath and Sugar Ray take the stage. Do a bunch of their set. Things are going great, crowds a bit rambunctious and crowding toward the stage, but typical for a college campus.

Some jostling of position around the stage by fans, and all of a sudden my wife is being shoved sideways off the stairs. As she turns her body around to see who was pushing, she was pulling back to wind up with a mean right hook.

Locks eyes with Mark McGrath as he rudely pushes past her. She holds the release and never throws the right.

She still can't listen to any of his songs.

I always tell her she should have connected to make the story better.

Watchin’ X-Files with no lights on, with Donna Mazon,
I hope the Smokin’ Man’s in this one
The shittiest song by the textbook example of a band that was great until they got big and then turned to shit. cf. XTC, REM. Genesis doesn't count because they got big because they turned to shit; that's not what I'm talking about.

REM had a lot of great songs post Document (I don't know if that was your breaking point) but I will say that as awful as Out of Time was overall, Monster and New Adventures in Hi Fi were fucking brilliant. I do agree they lost it after that and the loss of Bill Berry was likely a huge reason.
