Wisconsin Hockey 25-26 Hastings Year 3 - Turning the Corner?

Eye test report. The first period was a thing of beauty. The first line especially was absolutely fantastic. When they are in the offensive zone, the forwards were move continuously creating all sorts of chaos and scoring chances. It reminded me of the old Russian Olympic team. It was really cool seeing an all freshmen forward power play. Montgomery has such a fast 0 to 60 time. It's ridiculous. Hauser wasn't tested much, but boy is he quick. Wow. It's hard to understand why he doesn't start all the games. Horbach seems to have gotten faster. Maybe it's just his energy level. Impressive nonetheless. They played a very solid defensive game, the kind you need in a tight game like that because if they had a couple bad mistakes and ended up being down it could have been worrisome.

I was disappointed with the second period. Shots were 9 to 9. They weren't generating near the pressure they had in the first. Maybe that's attributed to Anchorage getting their feet under them and figuring things out a bit, maybe they took the foot off the gas a bit for some strange reason. Obviously in the third they were able to turn up the wick again and they played like they did in the first period and we got to go home with quite the hockey buzz.

I really love buying tickets where there's nobody around me and my daughter and I can just spread out and really kick back and relax and watch the game and not be packed in there like sardines. We aren't small people lol.
When they keep winning the ability to spread out and relax will become fewer and fewer

If anyone didn't catch it, Joey Potter for AA is the brother of Laney Potter. Too bad the women weren't at home this weekend.

Random question, would it feel wrong to put Jesus in the penalty box?

I was wondering if Joey was related to Laney. That's cool.

When I was at the game I couldn't quite make out the last name on that jersey..... I thought it said Jesus, but I was too lazy to check the lineup card. If he's from Bethlehem, there's no way he should go in the box LOL.

Well at least the hockey team didn't get LaFleur'ed.
Hafley has to be the most overrated DC of all-time. How did he get his reputation after doing practically 0 at BC? Epic collapse on d and the d was terrible last year as well.

And McManus should be cut from the team today.

As for Lafleur. He got out coaches in the second half no doubt. That matters. Johnson made adjustments and LaFleur didn’t.

This Week: Michigan State Thur 1/15 8 pm, Fri 1/16 7pm
Next Week: Penn State Fri 1/23 7 pm, Sat 1/24 7:30 pm

The heart of the second half begins in earnest on Thursday!

Saw a stat our D are scoring at a rate that rivals the 09-10 team. Interesting. It's also interesting that the 09-10 had 6 NHL d on the roster. Stupid Ford field ice sheet.

Not only the embellishment call, but then the kid from MSU goes and cross checks Finley at the buzzer. I used to think MSU was a good program, on the right track and all, but that BS can go pound sand. I'd fight them too at the buzzer!

On the Stramel goal, I still don't know wy he didn't get just rubbed off the puck or even just blasted. Hit someone! Good Lord!

I had a pretty clear view of that play from where I was seated at the game. It was like our defenders lazily stick checked without moving their feet and then gave up after that.

Not a good night tonight. It was good to see the team force a few past Augustine but they really couldn’t get much sustained offensive zone time, and I thought the finer details were poor tonight as well.

flush and forget tonight and have a better showing tomorrow hopefully. If they can grab at least 2 points they will hold the tie breaker over msu which could be important down the line.

MSU with all the puck luck but they also outplayed us in the first two periods.

Thought Hauser struggled a bit with rebound control and our D zone coverage was poor at times.

MSU gave up a surprising number of odd man rushes too.

All that and a post away from tying the game in the final minute.

Play a full 60 tonight and I like our chances.

I didn't see the whole game but MSU looks bigger/faster/stronger than Bucky. They consistently win battles in the corners and forecheck hard - I think that's what Hastings wants out of his team and is hopefully recruiting players to fit that style.
