UNH- How Far West Do We Go?

There was chatter about the UConn job. I think the Penn job is better.

Seems only fitting we lose Santos hours after Hubbard's team reaches the NC game.
Chatter where ? The guy thy hired was their #1 choice the entire search.
What was the contract status with Santos? Losing an alum to another FCS school…even if it’s an Ivy has to sting a bit. Hopefully the AD isn’t getting ready to give Souza a pay raise with his recent success.

Good points on Dartmouth’s pitiful cupcake-loaded SoS, as even if we win on Sunday, we only rise from 24th to 21st in the almighty NPI. But at least we would dump Dartmouth down to third from its fake No. 1 position. NU would remain in 12th, and BC on the cusp at 14th, likely also an at-large bid when the other fakers Harvard (10th) and Augustana (11th) drop out of contention.
Makes one wonder about the NPI formula itself but hey, it was ginned up by people smarter than me, so...

Copy Cornell. Change color.

In other news, Santos out has HC of football to U of Penn. Didn’t see that one coming.
Deadbeats like you (Meathead), Buford and Elwood will argue that money has no role is success but even Santos disagrees. UNH athletics loses a prominent alum to a 1AA program over money, A terrible moment in UNH history

What are you taking about! He has a brand new stadium and facilities and hasn’t had any sort of great success. It’s the same division for football. This is the argument you are making for hockey that they need facilities. Well that didn’t work for football.

I am sure it is highly unlikely, but how cool would it be to have Chip Kelly return to UNH to head coach football?

Considering he could probably make more as a janitor at a big ten school i'd say probably not. Big game today that I feel is a must win for UNH. According to the computers it would vault them in the top 15. Stiven Sardarian, with UNH 61 games played 21 points, with Michigan Tech 54 games played 62 points. I guess the player devolvement issue comes into play here.:ROFLMAO:

Not sure which “computers” you are using, but CHN customized NPI rankings for UNH win today move UNH up to 19th and dumps Dartmouth down to 3rd. No HEA teams would qualify for at-large NCAA bids, with PC at 14, BC 16, NU 17 (after choking in last minute of final game at Matthews last night), Yukon 18, UNH 19. HEA would get only one team into the NCAAs as an autoseed, just like Atlantic Hockey, which constantly gets disparaged here.

I will not tell you what happens to UNH and the rest of HEA teams if the Cats lose today, which would be Cat-astrophic (sorry).

Snowy roads heading down from the Lakes Region...we are on back roads right now maybe 93 is ok?

You are (intentionally) confusing throwing money at facilities and adequately paying top talent coaching.

My argument has been consistent
1) you don't just magically get wins by throwing money at facilities
2) you don't get money for facilities until you start winning and the vast majority of the money is then from donations
3) you need to get the coach first, he gets the players, builds the winning culture and then you will need to pay to retain (see Barr, Ben)
4) Souza isn't "the guy" and beyond the horrible record all the whining, complaining & excuse making about facilities is the proof he isn't the guy

As to Santos. UNH football has been a .600 win % operation that just gets to the NCAAs to get bounced in the first game for a decade now. (much better than hockey) Maybe there is a desire to do better and get back to the lofty 2014 team level (that with the 05, 08 & 09 teams got the stadium upgraded). Maybe after 5 years the determination is Santos isn't "the guy" for UNH football, one can hope that there was thinking this deep on the topic. Santos was at $275k at UNH, haven't seen what UPenn is paying, maybe UNH determined Santos wasn't worth it. Maybe he like Hubbard left for similar pay, meaning there is a deeper culture issue going on, beyond the money. We need to see what UNH does next, they get Chip Kelley through that door (hahahahahahahaha) and we can see if there is/was a plan.

Actually in that scenario PC gets in as only Atlantic Hockey is not in the top 16 so an autobid by someone else would get PC at 14 and the Hockey East winner at 15. However looking closely at the NPI there is little difference between 9 and 19 as it is almost as close as 8 is to 9. Lots of room for movement there. Evening up the ECAC series with a UNH win would be a major step to bringing Hockey East to several bids instead of one.

What deadbeats like you don’t realize is that good people deserve to get paid. Meathead, Buford and you, who think food stamps is extravagant, think $250k per year is big dough. UNH just lost Santos, who was being paid $275k. Embarrassing .

That’s called market rate for an FBS school where football isn’t the top sport. This isn’t Texas, football isn’t big. That’s why it’s not a $1m a year job.

Thanks! I-93 and Rte 4 were fine, although the latter slower than usual. Still had time to visit my old neighborhood under daylight, which was cool, and get my ticket, which has more than doubled in price for seniors since I last bought a ticket, and see warm ups. No Felix in line up, but first line of Winters-Lavins-Ring finally back together. Cam MacDonald is playing on both teams, first line for Dartmouth, third line for UNH. Good sized pep band for UNH despite finals week.
