There's no easy way to say this, but this team is very, very bad. Horrendous puck management, horrendous special teams, no speed, very average goaltending that is incapable of stealing a game. This team is just not good, and at this point, if they finish anywhere higher than last in the conference I will be very surprised. The hockey sense and passing skill for a majority of the players on this team is not Division 1 caliber. Time and again, guys are caught puck-watching, out of position, not reloading above the puck, cheating along the wall to try to jump the play, sending no-look passes and drops through the middle that get picked off or are off target, pucks bouncing off sticks, etc etc. Norm and Co. have a monumental amount of work to do to get this team to start performing at a Division 1 level, but I don't see it happening. When your two fastest skaters (Eddy and Adaszynski) are on the fourth line, you're f*****.

They lost a winnable game. They had plenty of chances. It drove me crazy watching the team melt down on the 3 PPs in the 3rd period. Bad passing and turnovers at the blue resulted in Maine getting offensive chances which then resulted in the Hawks taking penalties. I agree, horrendous puck management.

With the first half of the season coming to an end, Lowell is currently tied for 8th, one point ahead of UNH (who has a game in hand) and surprisingly 4 points ahead of dead last UMass (who also has a game in hand).

The reference has been made on this thread to about 11 months ago when Lowell won the Cactus Cup and how rosy things were looking. They came back with a record of 12-4-2. After that, they finished 4-12-2, and in total since they came back from California in January, the River Hawks are a miserable 10-23-2.

Their record at home since the start of the 23-24 season is 11-24-5 (.287%). It is getting hard for me to want to renew my ticket.

My patience and expectations are at an all-time low with this program. I know people are trying to see last night's game from a glass half full perspective but I just don't think it was a good performance despite scoring 4 goals and taking them to OT. Blowing three leads and allowing 3 PP goals is simply unacceptable, no matter how close it was on the scoreboard. Also, I hate to be overly critical of goaltenders in general, but in a game like that you simply need Elliott to make a big save on one of those plays, and he didn't do it. He hasn't really done it all season. His best game was opening night against a clearly overwhelmed Merrimack team that hadn't gotten their feet under them yet.

I've said it on these boards many times, I don't like them losing, but a part of the experience is entertainment. So many of those losses have been embarrassing and not in the least bit entertaining. The loss to BC was frustrating, but it was an enjoyable game. Losing 6-0 at home to WMU, getting shutout by UNH, the last home game last season vs UNH, the horrible losses at the Turkey Leg Classic two years ago, as well as the home games against PC and BC that season (first time I've ever left games early).
