UNH- How Far West Do We Go?

2026 Goalie recruit Eliot Seguin Lescarbeau is no longer a recruit via Heisenburg. He's having a so so year in a weak BCHL. Souza will be looking for another goalie since only Ryan Grout is committed at this time.
Sign of the times, I suppose. ESL is no longer part of the UNH program. SO disappointed that a careerful of silly quips will now go unrealized ... 😥

There seems to be an emerging case of CDS 2.0 (Cashman Derangement Syndrome) here, is there a doctor on this thread, lol  ;)

Kudos to the 'Cats and MS7 for attaining the lofty heights of .500 after two months of play. Next weekend promises to be interesting ...
Ha! Nah, nothing to do with Cashman -- don't know anything about him, really, but he is improving things obviously, so good for him and them. Still think they are overrated, bud. Like I wrote, we'll see.

My snark around Dartmouth hockey is more about its phantom fan-base, which can't hold a candle to what we all have. I made a lot of runs to Hanover over the 35 years I lived in Thornton (next door to Snively) and farther north in Littleton. My take -- which admittedly might be outdated -- it that they are more casual/curious than commited. Hell, they don't even have a bandwagon!! I think I'll start a Go-Fund-Me so they can buy one...

And they serve their fish chowdah cold at Thompson Arena. 😕

Bakchk20 - I think it's time you visited Thompson Arena under Cashman. But get parking early b/c Thompson Arena is actually under construction, which means parking is limited. And BTW Dartmouth raised their +$30M renovation w/ out us NH tax payers. I think you'll be surprised to see crowds as good as at the Whitt w/ a team more committed to winning. I don't post much, a year ago I posted I thought Cashman was the answer to UNH's issues. Crickets and a couple snide comments. Well - Dartmouth under Cashman has kids signing NHL contracts b/c they've developed. Last I looked the RPI/NPI for Dartmouth has been better than UNH for past couple years. 4 years ago they finished at RPI at #61. I get it, I can go back 20 yrs, chuckle at the smart, flash in the pan pretenders in Hanover. Your "take" shows you are out of the loop. Dartmouth AD has a strategy, vision, resources. And BTW if UNH wanted to go after Cashman, he's blown thru their budget, UNH is now the underfunded NH bridesmaid. Which makes my alumni head want to explode!

Two new recruits:

06 D Parker von Richter and 05 F Mason Zebeski commit to UNH, both Brampton Steelheads

Also im loving the rise of Newcombe lately
Thanks for the heads up. Recent UNH recruiting strategy just north of the border is reminiscent of the late 1960s when I was an undergrad and head coach Rube Bjorkman loaded up his roster with kids from Ontario and Quebec. When Rube left UNH abruptly to coach in his upper Midwest homeland, he left Charlie Holt some very competitive teams.

If you do not arrive early enough to grab one of the limited parking spaces adjacent to Thompson Arena, Dartmouth runs a very efficient shuttle bus service from a large parking lot about a mile north of campus.

There’s a few posters here (Meathead and Buford) that believe it’s 100% coaching and resources (ie spending) don’t matter. They think the right head coach and a generous helping of snake oil is the right combination for a national championship.

Glad to see Dartmouth feels differently and is being rewarded for fully committing to hockey

There's a lot to unpack in there, 1BC...I'll just say fair enough. Good past call on Cashman.

Beyond hilarious. Now Dartmouth, putting lipstick on a 50 year old pig that served as the model for The Whitt, is "fully committing to hockey" ... :ROFLMAO: 🤪

... then sidling up to the latest newbie, trying to sell them on half-truths, because you've failed with everyone else lol.

You suppose I should warn the new folks about your charming habit of threatening to use DM's as poster blackmail material, potty??

Former UNH player James Richmond has been their coach for the past four years for two different teams. So that's almost certainly the connection. A cursory look at the stats for both players relative to age suggests both likely were not heavily recruited. Both have good size. UNH likely knows precisely what these kids bring to the table though, thanks to Richmond. Hey, it's always good to have high character, tough, good team players. Those kids turn into captains.

Heard James Richmond was also in a movie...'Youngbloods"...this kind of guy could make a decent HC maybe at a certain D1 team...haha

Good intel. Gotta love a 6'1" 206lb defenseman...

great catch. it was the same team, just relocated to Brampton from Mississauga. Richmond is also the GM of the Steelheads.

the hockey world is small and many people have just a few degrees of separation. when a new recruiting arena suddenly opens up, these sorts of resources and relationships can be invaluable. BGSU hired a coach out of the WHL 2 years ago and he brought 2 of his former players in. Omaha's coach is the grandson of a legendary USports coach for U of Alberta, 4 players transferred from there, 7 total USports transfers to lead the entire NCAA. most CHL teams appear to be receptive afaict since they recognize the potential benefits to their own recruiting.

emails from UNH past three days pushing a family deal of four tickets jn loge at $80 for each Colgate men’s hockey game. Also, an add-on for a hot dog, chips, and soda for $11.50 each. How can you beat that deal?

My last trip to the Whit was for the Princeton game 1/6/24 with my Dad and son. It was billed as 'Dollar Hot Dog' night.

We got there 15 minutes before puck drop and with maybe 1500 people in the building, we hopped in the concession line—only to learn they were completely out of hot dogs.

It felt like a perfect anecdote for the state of UNH Hockey, which is apparently either: (1) pulling the old bait and switch on a promotion, or (2) being too incompetent to actually pull it off. The sad part is, one of those has to be true.

Is it me or do you find it odd that nobody is liking this post? #ratioed
