Wisconsin Women's Hockey 2025-2026

Never have had baked cheese before. Breaded and fried cheese yes of course. Cheese curds are all the rage in this neck of the woods.

From the sound of it, it's a leg injury. She skated a bit yesterday and will skate more today with the trainer.

I'm still not convinced on Edwards playing D. Early in the game I thought, "ok, she's getting in he groove", but then as the game wore on I was not so convinced, and this was against a non-protein opponent. Hopefully by the time the ncaa's hit she'll be in full stride. She did play some F late in the 3rd period. MJ also did some mad scientist lines at times. Zillich, Pieckenhagen and Enright had shifts together in the 3rd period.
My thoughts on Edwards playing D are that somebody with USA Hockey feels that she can play the role of a Kris Letang, Erik Karlsson or Brent Burns type player in their prime. Someone whose added extra offense contributions out weight the occasional defensive miscues. With the larger skating surface at the Olympics it should favor her skating skills. What will be interesting is what happens after the Olympics and if she returns to forward or continues at D.

For me, it was hard to keep track of who was skating with whom! And I agree with you about Laila. She's a natural forward and it's asking a lot to expect her to turn into a high-level D this quickly.
I've been looking for a highlight reel. Did Potter's shot go off the goalie's back and into the high corner?
It’s so very apparent to anyone that 10 is not and never will be a D.
There is no “Groove” to find. She flat out is not a D and is sooooo valuable as a forward.

They already have that player, it's KK.

The shot for all traditional angles is hard to decern - the overhead maybe is slipped under her pad - Hannan's stick wasn't on the ice so it could have gotten under there - I originally though it went off the inside of her left leg and in, but I think maybe just under the her left leg.

Is what we're seeing the general effect of no O'Brien? All due respect to Woz and Kotlowski, but there's something just not quite right at times with these guys, and the biggest chance is no O'B. I trust MJ had a better idea than that, but jeez, you guys!

Along with obi being gone, its a double negative with Edwards playing defense because you get poor transition defense and you lose offense. And when she plays with KK, she has no idea how to compensate for KK's risky play. If she's going to play D, it can't be with KK. KK needs a very responsible, experienced D to cover her aggressiveness. On the second goal, she did not close on the puck carrier on the wing quick enough nor did she deny the centering pass and allowed that centering pass to a wide open player. She just does not have the instincts to play D. She cannot play defense in a win or go home situation. The margin is just way too fine. And of course Jungles was hurt this weekend, but I thought Jones did a very good job eating up those minutes and playing effectively.

Sappy is a nice player, but maybe we need to try Scannell centering that top line.

I have some pretty good video editing software on my PC, so I downloaded the BTN video of the game, opened it with the video editor, and had a good look at the last moment disallowed goal, with the audio wave also visible on the screen.

For both the audio wave and the clock on the BTN scoreboard "bug", the puck is past Minotti's arm while the clock still says 00.1, but maybe not full across the goal line; and then clearly across the line two video frames later - video 30 frames per second - but the BTN clock has gone to zeros during those two frames. The problem, of course, is that neither the BTN clock nor the horn is official. But it had to have been oh, so very close!

10 can’t play D ever again and will never be able to .. she just can’t.
I’d put Hall with Simms and Edwards and watch them go…. Scannell
Appears to be destined for the wing… she can’t win faceoffs consistently and neither can Sappy… 7, 26, 6 and then 16,18,14

How in the world did they go over 10 minutes without a shot and goal to start the third period? The puck was down in the Tommy's end for most of that time. Didn't get a shot on goal until they got that power play. No sense of urgency whatsoever. They seemed to be playing like they thought the game was over. Yes the Tommettes were blocking shots, but come on. UW had 35 in the first 2 periods.

Getting taken to overtime in 2 of their last three games by inferior opponents is extremely troubling, and that's on the heels of an embarrassing loss to the rodents.

And then we had some of the fans doing the wave in a tie game and worse yet when UW was losing! WTF. Put that energy and interest into supporting the ladies on the ice. Absolutely ridiculous.

It took Ryohrchuk what seemed like at least 5 seconds to call the goal on the ice after UW was celebrating. I'm not sure about the legalities of reviewing the call on the ice without a formal challenge from the opposing coach. But I will say in the end if they did the right thing.
