Pretty solid effort last night. As always, the B1G teams remain a much more favorable matchup for our program compared to QU, which is a terrible matchup. Faceoffs continue to be a problem but they got a solid win last night without Jellvik, who is turning into a Ben Eaves with the injuries (interestingly the Bruins new version of Eaves, Hampus Lindholm, lasted less than 4 periods into the season before missing the rest of Game 2 as well). BC came out with their hair on fire for 15 minutes and unfortunately had nothing to show for it after the first period. At that point it was anyone's game but they did well to get the lead again and then have a great structured game. Forwards were flying on the forecheck and backcheck more than normal which helped the defense out considerably. Although they held their own quite well.
Letourneau actually looked good. Needs to work on picking corners but when he figures it out the floodgates could open. Stiga was all over the place causing havoc, forechecking, causing turnovers, shooting, passing; he's absolutely filthy and could have a real good season. I think there's some nice pieces added this year that could pay dividends by March, Radivojevic looked quite solid vs QU and I have positive expectations for Kostadinski. Skahan looked improved from last year and that adds some serious size to the mix as these guys start getting more ice time.
Also, I know it's 8 pm start time on a Thursday but the crowd there for that game, for the flagship school in the "state of hockey" was beyond pathetic. I don't want to hear anyone from that school talk smack about BC or the ability to fill Conte ever again (which BC has been doing quite well with recently).
B1G 0-3 last night, two of which came at the hands of HE.
