MLB 2025: The Dodgers vs The Field

So there is apparently a micro-conspiracy theory that < fill in the blank > is stealing signs in the post-season. So far I have seen fans claiming it on SBN and reddit about Toronto, Milwaukee, Seattle, and of all teams Philadelphia (I guess they just aren't very good at it?).

Detroit PAs since the start of the fifth:

Single

Double
Double
Single

Intentional walk

Single (then picked off)

16 PAs:

3 Homeruns
4 Doubles
3 Singles
1 Intentional Walk
5 Outs

Meanwhile the Mariners have 1 hit (a single) in their last 14 PAs.

One of the most dramatic turnarounds I have seen in a while. Reminds me of USC coming out in the second half against Notre Dame in 73 or 74.

*Checks Brewers score.*

I'm going to have a mother fucking crashout if this team chokes away this NLDS. Goddammit is baseball a stupid sport.

On the upside, with Philly losing, we're now guaranteed not to fall into a full blown recession.

Philadelphia’s last four World Series wins, the first two won by the Athletics when they played in the city and the latter won by the Phillies, coincided with recessions: the Athletics’ 1929 and 1930 titles came in the early stages of the Great Depression, while the Phillies’ 1980 win came amid the energy-crisis fueled downturn and 2008 title during the worst of the Great Recession.

I have long believed that the Mariners winning a World Series would knock us back into our rightful timeline after the Cubs win completely ruined it.

This is third deciding game in Mariners history:
  • 1995 ALDS game 5: Mariners 6 Yankees 5, 11 innings (the greatest Mariners game of all time)
  • 2001 ALDS game 5: Mariners 3 Indians 1
  • 2025 ALDS game 5
