Business, Economics, and Taxes 2: That's Why We Fight to Take the Means Back

View attachment 964

Some of those areas are going to get killed in energy prices over this. Wont hurt the Tech Companies but the residents...

So this is my area of practice, and obviously I'm coming from the legal side but I know enough of the business side to be dangerous.

If the build out is done correctly, residential customers shouldn't be hurt. They could even benefit since the data centers will cover proportionally more of the fixed costs as heavy users.

Since I know Iowa the best, part of the reason for the growth is the huge amount of wind energy already being generated thanks to the Berkshire affiliate who has acted more like a tax credit farm than a regulated utility for the last 25 years. I'm not a huge fan of some of their tactics, but they should be able to absorb a lot of data center growth provided they can get more generation in the pipeline (which the current federal government is not exactly helping with).

Yeah my mom is near Ashburn, it doesn't affect her prices and if anything it ensures the grid is strong. She likes the tax money the town gets for real estate that results in much fewer people than another 50 developments. I mean there are probably downsides in the long run but who knows.

The thing around here is energy prices and water usage. Of course these are the same people that complained about solar power farms so...

What's the story here?

The main issue at hand, based on the comments, is that she refuses to let mods ban Jesse Singal, despite the fact that he apparently stated his intent to harass trans people on Bluesky and is in clear violation of their ToS.

That is the nice part of it. I may be misremembering but she starts to mimic the stuff Singal was saying (might have even started quote skeeting him) and then riffing off it. Then started mocking people who in the past "protested" by not posting (back when people made really offensive user names) amongst other things. she hast turned "Waffles" into her "You Trans folks suck and need to shut up no one cares" thing cause it comes from a Singal skeet.

It is now entering at least Day 4 of her just finding ways to antagonize people. Much of it unprovoked. Hell half the people replying are basically saying "you need to to hire a PR person and put the phone down".

Is this the same story as Elmo: a trillion dollars and no sense?

Her harangue against "systems that reward outrage" got a belly laugh.
