Suarez crashing out because of one kid from Alaska...

Lost a bit in the shuffle but, Germany’s loss yesterday at Slovakia was the first away loss in World Cup Qualifying ever for Germany.

Another WCQ update:

Uruguay, Colombia, Ecuador and Paraguay all qualified, joining Argentina and Brazil. Venezuela and Bolivia are fighting for the playoff spot.

Is their "pod" (or however it works) ridiculously easy? They've never had to play at ENG, SPN, ITA, NED....?

Nope, they’ve have been drawn against other top teams, including England in 2002. They just never lost on the road.

Their all time record in World Cup Qualifying is 83 wins, 18 draws, and 4 losses. Their previous losses were all at home, Portugal in 1985, the famous 5-1 loss against England in 2001, and against North Macedonia in 2021.

TBF, Germany, Brazil, and Italy’s (and to a lesser extent Uruguay and Argentina) records are a bit skewed due to the fact that defending champions automatically qualified previously, plus host qualification too.

Not a fluke, either. Slovakia's second goal in particular was just savage. Germany had almost no grade-A chances.

If you have Paramount+ I’d recommend checking in on the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers today. With the big teams already qualified it’s actually quite fascinating to watch as a neutral, a bit like FBS football but without the Power 5 schools. Plus all the CONCACAF chaos (though not as much because the US, Mexican, and Canadian referees are all free to ref whatever match).

The format is 12 teams divided into 3 groups, group winners qualify while the two best runners up go into the Intercontinental Playoffs.

Group A
El Salvador
Panama
Suriname
Guatemala

Group B
Jamaica
Curacao
Trinidad and Tobago
Bermuda

Group C
Costa Rica
Nicaragua
Haiti
Honduras

We have another qualifier from Africa with Tunisia qualifying.

Egypt could have qualified today but only managed a draw with Burkina Faso.

What kind of rosters did USA-JAP have going in that match? Can anything meaningful be taken from the result?
With the usual "it's a friendly" caveat, it seemed to be a good result using a partial first choice lineup versus what seemed to be a Japanese second choice lineup, though Japan's second choice lineup is still pretty good.

The US played well for once, after a disappointing last match.

Anyone who knows Seattle well have a recommendation for watching 2nd Bundesliga games?
My team, Fürth, plays at 11:30 PST on a Saturday in late November, and all 2BL games are now on ESPN+.

I've got about 24 hours in Seattle, so before catching a Thunderbirds game, I'd like to go watch Fürth on tv.
Any idea on good pubs who'd have lots of TVs and be able to potentially show it?

Queen Anne Beer Hall might be a good bet, depends on if it's open at that time.

How far do we get? Elite 8?

And how did The Hun crash all the way to 12?
Round of 16 probably. Should advance to the 32 because they'll get a favorable draw as a seeded team.

The Germans seem a little lost in the woods right now. They just don't have those elite level players that they seemingly always had.

Full breakdown of prices from the 1st round of the lottery.

From the charts I’ve seen Cat. 1 are most of your lower bowl seats. Cat 2 are varying degrees of the upper level, center seats (some of the lower, upper-deck sideline seats are Cat 1 for some venues). Cat 3 are upper level, end seats. Cat 4’s are the most limited and are upper level, end seats that are in the corners of the venues.

Basically they are using the “50% of “fun” spending is done by the Top 10% of incomes” pricing model 🙄
