RPI 2025–26: Off the Critical List and In Recovery

Heard from a very reputable source that the floor and the refrigeration system as well as the boards and glass will be replaced next summer as “Phase 1” of the rehab of the HFH.

Odds for this coming weekend -Girls are a .5 goal favorite at Holy Cross and Boys are a 2.5 goal underdog at BU. I am never confident of the odds for an exhibition game with teams playing knowing the game has no effect on standings and the statistics do not count individually. For the football fans we are a 9.5 point favorite over a very strong Rochester team. Not sure how that spread can be possible considering how we got splattered by Utica and were incredibly fortunate to take out Brockport in OT.

It's not like they have a choice....they've been limping along on a failed system for several years now. Another year of soft, milky ice is what we're left with. I'll pass on calling dead equipment replacement "renovations" ..ha ha...

In listening to the CHN interview, Phase I work will start next spring is $7 mil in work for new boards, glass and floor (ice surface) He also mentions two additional $50mil phases --timing TBD. Which would include a new building addition off of the home locker room side of HFH.

I agree replacing failing equipment is regular upkeep not renovations. The true renovations will be the addition off the locker room. And for the love of god we need to replace the seating. Or at the very least make every seat the same color? Needless to say no new arena just major renovations to the old barn. Im good with it actually

I’m totally with you when it comes to the seat colors. If they can’t make them all red, then at least change the blue ones to white. I never understood why they chose blue in the first place. We are cherry and white, not cherry and blue.

Instead of spending money to change seat colors, let’s spend it on an all-league goal-scorer. If we actually start winning games the color of the seats won’t matter because there will be bodies in them.

The seating and seat spacing are the most comfortable in college hockey and better than any pro arena. Don’t replace it with those small crappy plastic seats designed for people less than 6’ tall.

I think this has something to do with the Capital District Islanders that played there in the late 80’s, early 90’s. There may have been a deal to make some of the seats blue as “premium” seats and they never bothered to change them back.

Or we could spend the money to fill all the vacant seats with mannequins so that the TV broadcast would look like we have a full house for all the home games. Could also pipe in cheering via the PA system!

Yeah keep the Same seats just paint them all the same color. I guess I look at it like if you’re going to spend 50-80 million in renovations then have the seats all the same color. The capital region islanders haven’t played a game in the fieldhouse in 30+ years.
