RPI 2025–26: Off the Critical List and In Recovery

I hope not. The girls jersey is so much nicer. I hope they switch to Bauer sweaters.
There were names on the back of the jerseys. But I’m with you. Even the jerseys that the club team wore last night were also nicer
Assistant Coach Lange spoke briefly last night. He said that Coach Lang was in Pittsburgh for an ECAC coaches meeting and was disappointed that he couldn’t be here. He just wanted to thank the fans who attended and mentioned that we had a number of freshmen and transfers along with the 8 returning players. After introducing the club, women’s and men’s players, there was just a skate with the Engineers. There was free pizza and Ben & Jerry’s ice cream.
If Wicked was there, I wouldn’t know since I never met him…

How was the ticket party? Any news
No news whatsoever. I didn't get there until about 6:15 and they were in the middle of the player intros (yes, the pizza was all gone.LOL) They did the club team first, then the women, then the men. Then the open skate.

No sign of the Prez or Bowers.

Those were the jerseys they wore the past two years. I was hoping we would get a new jersey with the coach change, and the change in center ice, sort of like the start of a new era of RPI hockey, but that looks very unlikely.
It's possible/likely that the sweaters were already locked into the contract with UA and had them committed to whatever BU-esque home sweater design we were saddled with last year. I do stand by my opinion that the road reds are better than the home whites. But as others have said, I don't care if they wear beat-up practice sweaters....as long as the on ice play improves as the season progresses.

There were quite a few comments about the fact that I continued last year to award 2 points for a win and 0 for a loss in regulation or OT in my thread-starting stats. I regarded shootouts as non-existent. That is, they were regarded as ties in all cases. I propose this year going with the 3 points for a win in regulation, 2 points for win in OT or a shootout, 1 for a loss in OT or a shootout, and none for a loss in regulation. I think that we had shootouts even in non-league games. Any opinions? Doing away with this entirely is certainly an additional option.

i am sort of leaning towards the additional option. over time it seems like we have a very few who start all the threads. Perhaps it would even make some sense to start them a bit earlier so that any pertinent information could be posted (such as any information about video and audio feeds). Just a thought.

I'd prefer sticking with the system you have used in all previous years. IMHO, shootouts are an abomination. Fine with me if you regard them as non-existent.

In honor of Lucas Lemieux, today is 19 September 2025. There are 16 days until RPI's next game.

I have no problem with 2pts for a win and one for a tie.

The main reason that threads are not started so that "pertinent information could be posted" is the requirement that after a win, the same person has to start the next thread. I do like that requirement, and expect it will be invoked more often this season. :D

Let us hope that we have a lot of times when the same person has to start the thread again.

Agree totally. As an old time hockey guy - I think deciding a team sport with individual attempts like a shoot out is indeed an abomination. This is why the quest for the Stanley Cup through all 4 rounds remains the most exciting part of any sport.

In honor of Kyley Toye, today is 20 September 2025. There are 15 days until RPI's next game.

For the football fans - no way to describe this one. RPI beats Brockport 30-24 in Overtime!!! Falling behind 10-0 and looking horrible on defense against the short passes as they did last week against Utica, having no rushing offense at all, somehow they won this one!!! Just a fabulous upset win and the boys are now 2-1 overall heading into next week. Go Red!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
